I'm sure SE will keep it FF-esque. What I see happening is them recoloring/renaming mobs for the event. But some kid of undead invasion on the cities for Halloween would be perfect!

WoW (yes, WoW again!) had something like this a couple of years ago as a prelude to their at the time upcoming expansion. It was interesting and annoying at the same time.

You could pick up a plague infested item from somewhere, you get infected and eventually turn into a ghoul. At that point, everything non-ghoul was your enemy and you could attack other players regardless if they were PvP flagged or not. The reason you would attack other actual players was so you could spread the infection onto them and turn them into ghouls as well if they didn't get a cure in time.

The big perk of this? All ghouls had their own language barrier and you could take players from both of the normal factions, who can't communicate normally, and be able to talk to each other.

The bad parts? You could also infect npcs and all of a sudden anyone who was important to talk to became a ghoul and you had to resort to other methods to do something (kill the npc, let them respawn normal or go elsewhere). If you turned into a ghoul in town, anybody could jump on you. If an npc gave the killing blow, you suffered durability loss if you had equips on.

I avoided this ghoul event in WoW, reasons. Kinda wonder how a FF version would look.

They've already got a bunch of undead models/enemy types already, so I see no problem here. Either that or a mix of those + pumpkin head mandragora.

This could be fun. I think it shouldnt be limited to zombies though. Any undead/halloween resembling mobs should be included. That WoW event, as bad as I hate to say it :P, sounds kinda fun. Annoying yes, but fun.

Also, that ghoul thing from WoW sounds pretty cool (too bad I missed it). I'd like something along those lines for a Halloween event, but more proper to FFXIV. Being infected and turning into a ghoul/zombie/whatever would be pretty neat.
