For t4 crafting materia, I was just buying several sets (minus the hat) of the crafting gear in Mor Dhona, either at the aetheryte or at saint coirnach's find. As those pieces are 46, they can produce t4 materia, and any t3 materia you don't need can still sell for a decent little profit on the marketboard. Two reasons for excluding the hat : 1) it is only level 45 (so generally produces t2 or t3 materia), and 2) I have the crafting hat already.
DoH gear, excepting the tools and the AF gear, is not class-specific, so can be built up through combat or through crafting. Generally, though, I would just make a ton of Cobalt Ingots for that leve hand in, and SB the bought crafting gear while making those through QS.

I was actually doing more or less same way as yours, except I make patrician sets instead. They're lvl 50 and I have abundance of mats for making them, HQed them ofc.
Have gone through 5 patrician sets now (head/body/hand/leg/feet). Still got all T3 though. T3 control & cp used immediatedly to meld af's hand/leg/feet. Alot of craftmanship T3, have about 20-ish of them so far, guess I could go crazy melding them on body, as soon as I melded 1st T4 craftmanship on each of them.
As of now, T4 craftmanship cost around 100k on my server. Guess that's the reason why it's so expensive, seeing how much I SBing and got nothing of T4. Worse thing is that many of my offtools still has no meld yet. I do get T4 control recently from militia wristlets, but they take around twice (or more) the patrician SB progress.

I spiritbond the electrum and red corral earrings for tier 4 materias. Mostly still tier 3 but sometimes it's nice to get a tier 4 here and there.

Well.. just converted my 6th patrician/acc set. still all t3.
I skipped red coral earring since I don't have red coral anymore and my fisher kinda too low to farm those. I remember back in 1.0 that I can easily farm these on those flying light mobs in underground cavern, similar mobs that now resides in Satasha dungeon.
Sigh.... I hate u, RNG! ><

I've SB'd a LOT of crafter gear. I think my T4 materia rate is about 8%. That is all level 46-49 gear. And of the T4 materia, I think it is about even, 33% chance of one of the three crafter materia types.

I've been spiritbonding the Patrician's Set with Electrum Crafting Jewelry and so far, I have about 80 T3 and 4 T4 materia, so the T4 conversion rate is pretty low. Every time I see a T4 materia, I feel like I won the lottery...

7th patrician set and still t3. So that's all 7 set of patrician and nothing of t4 from it... ; ;
I did get a t4 from electrum choker, but not t4 craftsmanship...
