Atma grind is an insult to the player's time. read this Dev team.

As for the time argument. You do with your time what you choose. No one's forcing ya to get the atmas (and they'll likely make it easier later on anywho), but SE isn't putting a proverbial gun to your head on this one. I gave up on Atmas a while back in lieu of extreme Primal weapons for a reason.

This is the problem with your mentality.

It -isn't- harder. In no way is this difficulty higher than the initial relic quest. You can outgear that / get carried, but in no way is -doing nothing but the least engaging activity in the game- a harder, more satisfying task. It doesn't even get better afterwards. You replace Fates with nothing but HMs, then -more- fates, more random mob killing, and more dungeons.

The system sucks. He could have worded it better -but the system sucks, and saying it doesn't suck doesn't make it suck less-.

Personal account of atma can be ignored if you don't want to read.
"I had around 180 fates completed when atma came out. When I turned in my atma I have 1300 fates done. most people in my fc got theirs by 500 fates.
I have also noticed that many people will make claims like I have been doing fates for 5 hours with no atma(which is very possible as over 3 atmas took 9+ hours to get) but during these 5 hours, they would only do like 50 fates where as I would finish when I was lazy only 150. Just because your in a zone for 5 hours does not mean you will get them item, if anything it means the opposite. I never got an atma if I spent more then 2 hours in a zone. when it came to getting my last 6 I would change zones every 40min. I got all 6 in 4 hours. after the first 6 took me over 30hours."

My point with this is time is relative, and SE it does not benefit from you saying you spent over 5hrs. They need to hear that you are way over the expected avg of 500 by being well over 1000. However a system that allows for some ppl to complete it in 300 fates(I know people that got all, in under 8 hours) or over 1200 based on nothing but rng is a very poorly designed rng that just has way to high of a variable allowance(or lack there of in this case). As we saw with Novious stage postponement.

For the record Kabooa, I said "harder to attain". I think your point may be more focused on overall difficulty (which I actually agree with your points upon). But you can argue that it's not simple to get the Atma wep since it''s fighting the RNG.

That all said, yes the system isn't great. My complaint was that this is probably the umpteenth thread like this (with some kind of "look at me Devs" title), which just makes it hard to discuss this point when there are so many of these threads. I'd rather see a "hey, I have an idea - how about (etc)" versus "FIX ATMA NAOOOWWW!"

But my point still stands. It takes a bunch of time, maybe not effort, but it takes time. I believe that to be the overall end goal here (and to occupy low level fates).

The problem is time spent is not consistent. As many saw, person A can get 12 Atmas in the span of 8 hours of game time while person B could get theirs in 72 hours of game time. If more people wind up like person B, some may say screw it and forget Atma and Animus entirely because they got sick of beating their heads against the RNG wall and having nothing to show for it. Since there's so few people with Atma and Animus, Novus got delayed, so it's safe to say that perhaps the RNG wasn't the way to go if it got the next relic pushed back.

The only thing I have against SE is that the reason they pushed Novus back.

Yoshida already said himself that he won't expect most people to finish the Animus questline by 2.25 or even 2.3. Which means SE Dev clearly wanted this to be a bloody time sink. He said it in live letter, so everyone is warned. This will be a time sink where most people won't even complete it by 2.25 and 2.3 and the whole forums is filled with QQs about the quest line (come on you have been told).

It's only stupid when SE themselves expected ppl not completing it and using it as a reason to hold back Novus, which people question whether the reason is genuine or just that they haven't ready the content to go live yet and using it as an excuse.

You can see that last Wed/Thursday (depending on your timezone) was supposed to be a 2.26 of sorts where coil's Echo buff get pushed from 15% to 20% according to announced every 2 weeks schedule but to date, nothing was being done.

Maybe there's some shortage of manpower over there or something, IDK.

Over 10 hours for 1 atma, as mentioned before, is VERY rare. If you are unlucky enough to have yet to earn another by then, you have my condolences. If you expect it to be consistently less than 8, you make me laugh.

Everyone will deal with dry spells, this is the nature of RNG, which is a core aspect of any RPG. I have 4 atma weapons (one is animus), and I am working on a 5th. No, I am not lucky, no, it is not an easy prospect to fulfill. That said... not only do I enjoy it, but I respect the level of vigilance necessary to farm them. Alas there are many who disagree with me, but they have other ways to progress whilst ignoring Atma altogether. Just because you do not like one aspect of the game does not warrant that they remove it, but it can warrant having other options. Which, as said before, there are.

If you have been following other "devs please read this" topics, you would know by now that this has never been a basis on which they read or respond to requests. They will consider everything on the forums, yet whether they have (or have any interest in sharing) a response is up to them.

If Square said that they didn't expect a lot of people to get Atma and Animus, yet held content back due to too few people having said weapons, then either something else is going on or Square had expected a healthy amount of people to get the stuff by May and by healthy, I mean enough people to warrant the next relic push.

Imo if you you are a busy person with a busy schedule, u should book a day off just for atma grinding like seriously; you can work ur butt off all week long and be able to book some kind of day whether it be weeks/ months from now. If you have a family then just explain to ur husband / wife this is something u want to accomplish and will need a day off from the daily life of a spouse.
It may seem impossible but it's possible if you can find time to play an MMO lol.
Also fate grinding effeciently is the best way of course
# of kills > escort/ retrieve# of items > boss fates > special boss fates ( i.e it's not lupus cancer boss )
200 short quick fates > 200 long b

I actually had really good luck with Atmas by simply doing it whenever I felt like it. Mining electrum at Bronze Lake and a nearby FATE pops up? Class change and jump in. In South Thanalan doing my Beast Tribe Quests? Sure, I'll pick up some FATEs along the way. If I feel like it, keep tagging along with the atma party for awhile. If not, go back to mining or whatever I was doing before. If I go more than a couple hours without getting my drop and I'm not having fun farming FATEs, I go do something else. I don't think Atma was meant to be farmed back to back to back to back the way some people are trying to do it. That's a sure way to drive yourself insane farming FATEs for hours on end. It took me probably a week of casual FATE farming the way I described above.
