Why you decided on your race (lore perspective)

So many cats! :) Like a lot of people here I was a Mithra in XI. I originally wanted to try something different than cat person, so I created a Wildwood back in 1.0 beta but found being that tall very disorienting and went back to being a cat. I choose to be a Keeper because there nocturnal life style and appearance were different than the Mithra of XI. Also I liked the long tails, which were exclusive to the Keepers in 1.0 and I wanted to start in Gridania. Although you could choose any race/starting city/class combo in 1.0 I like to keep things lore compliant so I was a Keeper/Gridanian/CNJ. I love the lore that has been added for the races, but it seems to me that the Keepers are one of the least fleshed out clans (the other being the Hellsguard) and I hope we get to more about them than that many of them are Gridanian outlaws.

im an old singlePlayer Veteran, and most of the time, i playd Warrior (without MageCasts), or Barbarians. And the Roegadyn seems to be the only Choice for a big, huge, really huge Barbarian like Charakter. thats why

I started in 1.0 and the lore in 1.0 wasn't all that great. I chose Highlander because they were touted as being mercenaries with no homeland left to go to. It seemed like the perfect choice for an adventurer. The duskwights were going to be my first pick since it is my original character ever created when i was 8. But their mannerisms didn't go with the backstory of outcasts and rough. So it was not something i could abide.

Because I'm mystified by the deep, dark, painstakingly crafted lore and legends behind cat ladies :.

I knew I wanted to play as an archer/bard. So I went with Miqote. I could have gone Elezen, but I wanted something a little more delicate.

I like rare things, so picking a female Roe was an easy choice. Most of my friends chose Lalafell and we're all huge Futurama fans, so I opted to make the largest Hellsguard possible, replete with max height, bust size, and near max height. Plus I knew I would main warrior, so now I spend my free time in cities shouting "ME WANT SNU SNU!" At random intervals.

I chose the Mi'qote race mostly because it's a cat race that actually looks good. I went with Keepers of the Moon because I'm a pagan, and according to much pagan lore, magic works better during the night, especially under the full moon and the moon represents the godess. My guardian godess, Menphina, I chose also because of my beliefs, where the female gender comes before the male (unlike many other traditions/religions). I also think the Keepers family system represents this in a good way, as the 'kittens' are raised by their mother and take on her family name. It seems like the female is more important than the male. Besides, when I started playing FFXIV I had no friends to play with, and Keepers tends to keep only small families or they remain alone, so I would say it was a good choise considering I played with no friends and no FC until I hit lvl 50 aprox.

Or at least one of the tallest.

I originally played a Mithra on XI until my friends convinced me to make a Taru to join their all Taru LS, and that character eventually became my main, although I always missed playing my Mithra. When XIV came out I wanted to switch back to a catgirl, so I rolled a Miqo'te, keeping my original hairstyle, but changing the color to green as a homage to my favorite FF character, Rydia. From a lore perspective, I love the clan system of the Seekers, and how you could quickly identify them by their name. There wasn't an animal I really loved out of the clans, save Raptor (But R'rydia would've looked silly, IMO), and I ended up choosing the Viper clan since I though L'rydia had a nice sound to it.

I of course named my character after my favorite FF character, especially since I knew I'd roll SMN from the start.
