While we do get plenty of gil for these quests (and in-between as well of course), I kinda do agree with the point in OP. It's like you're working for a company, you get your salary - and are told you have to spend it in your own company's stores. Did you get paid then if you're giving your money right back to your company? And while the time spent on these quests is trivial on a daily level, the fact that you have to be doing them for a month (if you do them every day) per faction, only to receive having to do more grinding for your 'reward' in the end... that kind of takes the fun out of it. Also don't forget a) how repetitive the quests are; b) how the XP is lost in most case, since quite a lot of people do them at lv50 because they have no other lv-appropriate class and don't want to lose time waiting to get there; c) while running numbers, please calculate the costs of repairs needed as well, for precision's sake. So yeah, I do think at least lowering the prices sounds justified.
