there is going to be outcry regardless. i hope they go with traditional marriage at the start and release same-sex later on, when people become wiser and not so deeply rooted in tradition.
as for the content...this makes me happy :3

you're so cute. xD ill marry you.
but i do hope they find a way for the same-sex marriage....it doesn't even have to be called "marriage"
maybe something else so it won't cause a huge uproar. games that do not allow same-sex marriage
has been a debate as old as time...so i really hope SE just adds it. it's a game anyways, there is a lesbian
miqote in that one place in uldah [cant remember name. near lil mihigo] if u doin the peeping tom quests so ... xD
These new things look great. i cant wait till 2.3...but i dont see anything of golden saucer
unless me is blind lol. o:
cant wait for more good info~
RIFT introduced marriage a couple of years ago. It allows same sex and opposite sex marriages. There was little to no complaining on the forums or in game about it. In a video game world, I doubt many people will care if there is same-sex marriage. Not including it is worse IMO.Quote:
(snip) It's a very, very slippery slope to introduce a marriage system at this point and I only hope SE knows what they're getting into in either direction they decide to take it in.
True, but i seriously doubt this is going to "make or break" the game. If they did same sex marriage people aren't going to be offended to the point of unsubbing or just screaming bloody murder about it enough for it to matter. If they don't do same sex marriage same thing. I think a ton of people would be let down but they aren't going to quit playing over it.
I just remember, before I hopped onto the FFXIV bandwagon, I was watching SWTOR's development progress. They wanted to introduce same-sex romance, and a lot of people went freaking bananas about it. It was ridiculous! I would love everyone to get married to whichever player character they want, I just fear that this game, which is currently in the spotlight as a cinderella-esque transformation, from getting attacked by the media for "brainwashing children" and other political agenda rubbish.
I agree. It's an entirely optional feature and an MMO is no place to be pushing social agendas anyway. Personally I'd be let down, but I wouldn't really mind after the initial disappointment. It's such a minor feature it's not worth getting worked up over, on either side.
I know that when Personal Housing is introduced I'm going to try to get on as early as possible so I can grab the best plot of land...
EDIT: as for marriage...I don't really care what happens at this point. I'm not going to initiate anything (my BF doesn't play) but if I get a request from a friend, IDK, maybe. Don't care about the "debate" either; do what you want, I don't care.
