You can stay thm / conj and just play like you always have, which retain both there nuking / healing potential without restricting your abilities. They never said they were going to force you to have to abandon your current generic class.

This does not sound practical. Yoshida has been saying that the Job system is specifically designed for strategic/heavy party play while the class system will be there for soloing, ranking up and light party play. It seems unlikely that you'll be able to just "forego" the Job system whenever you want because you don't want to lose the versatility.

Of course I can't say that for sure that I'm right and you can't say you're right either at this point, it's too early to tell.

What I mean is, if you already have it in your mind you don't want to be a DD / Healer, why bother ever completing the quest for it? You aren't granted the job until you finish its quest line.

But I also cannot forsee them 'locking' you forever to the job either. Because in the future if they do allow more then one job per class, Its not like you can 're-roll' to get your desired job since you cant exactly re-level lets say conjurer to 50 again. Would make no sense.

And what I am telling you is that if "x" Job is required for "abc" content and you don't have it simply because you don't want to play a specific role, you aren't going to be invited.

They did mention a bit about possibility of jobs that require multiple class.
You can't be both class at same time to be the job so basically means requiring both class at certain rank to get the job like say..... for example... 10 CON and 10 THM required to get the WHM, BLM. But once you get WHM/BLM job you can be WHM/BLM from both CON or THM class.

Seriously... I know these are work in progress, but at this point they should at least know which job will be tied to which class.

Thats with the assumption there will only be 1 way to kill said content. Which will never be the case in an MMO, or else all those solo kills / duos / and other innovations would never have happened.

I never said there isn't more than one way to clear "abc" content, all I did was make a distinction between heavy party content and soloing. The Job system is supposed to be for strategic party play while the class system will remain for soloing. Like I said originally, it's too early to tell right now but I'm going based on the tidbits of information that have come from Yoshida about the Job system and what it is being designed for.

I don't want the jobs get lock to each classes

I want THM can be both WHM/BLM and CON can be both WHM/BLM with an ability to switch it anytime I want

There is absolutely nothing at this point that is saying something like that can't happen. The only real restriction we know at this point is that it will be 1 Job = 1 Class when the system is first implemented. Until Yoshida says otherwise, we're free to come up with all sorts of crazy ideas.

It works both ways. Above all else the job system was implemented for distinction rather then strategic play but because of the distinction of classes it allows you to plan more appropriately hence the strategic party play.

But lets say your strategy called for a THM to stay a THM because of his versatility since your team makeup was bad that day/night. If he lost his 'jack of all traits' feel and became more specialized in one aspect and by doing so lose a spell that would make the fight much smoother. Your strategic party play just got fucked by him being forced to play his job rather then be versatile.
