But I would like to say that what FFXI had wasn't potions done wrong. It was simply different then what is mainstream MMO. Rather than making food and potions necessary and almost cheatingly overpowered like they are in many other games. They were balanced to create separate strategies rather than simply being another way to heal. When you used a vile elixer in FFXI your strategy revolved around that vile elixer. Making potions something you simply use as a backup devalues them.
I just really don't like the idea of people relying on potions to stay alive. That's what healers are for, remember class uniqueness. This is a problem especially when you have pvp to think about. Keep that to temporary items or something, I don't want the winner to be who stalked up on more potions.
