Even if you are paying for it, it does not guarantee good service, although it should. I'm sure several people that have played pay to play games will agree with this statement one way or another. And just because a game is free to play doesn't mean that it has terrible service either. We are talking about Square Enix here and a final fantasy game. It sounds like it should be pay to play, but I'm not sure if the game is lending itself to a pay to play crowd with it's casual encouraged environment.

and by useful i mean "almost mandatory if you wanna kill something better of a critter".It's the reason i don't play that shit, and definitly i don't want this game end like this.

There will be a lot of key system overhauls as well.
every f2p has a good or better costume system. Just equipment swapping isn't going to work. Some of them are more inventive then others. As with pet/mount/companion system. Those are always the first to be needed in f2p models.
Stuff like upgrade, craft systems will also change, there needs to be a power curve. Not to mention death system, color system, and travel system, exp system.
The balance will also be shot and completely redesigned as well. f2p models are balanced towards the casual, but powerful players, where end game is either tons of effort or money. Never in the middle. Expect to get nowhere fast, until you "gear up" or "upgrade up".
Content will also be adjusted to sales and seasonal sell offs, to maximize profits.
Lots of changes. It's not easy to make a half-hearted subscription based system into a f2p, and vice versa.
It's not just fluff, fluff is just the bait. Almost every key system will change with the theory of micro-transactions in mind.
SE made FFXIV so it would provide a stable income for the company. They won't make this game F2P.

I payed for WoW and the service was great.
I payed for Aion and the only bad thing was the beginning (first 2-3 months) where you had to wait like 2-9 hours to log into the game (NCSoft apologized by giving free playtime, if I remember correctly).
I payed for a Minecraft server for like 3 months, and it was running like rainbows on the sky, perfectly.
Then my credit card couldn't stand it and I had to down that server, backed up my datas and built a home-made server for Minecraft =)
So you can say that:
Using a free service gives you a 40-50% of reliability.
Paying for a service gives you a 90-100% of reliability.
Obviously, it depends on which company you're giving money to.
