Archon Theorizing

All of the Archons have one thing in common, the tattoo. In 1.0 I always asked the question if Archons were chosen from city-states or if they HAD to come from Sharlayan. Now with Thancred being "from" Limsa Lominsa before even was associated with Y'sthola and Louisoix it seems that it's more of a chosen thing. The leader of the Archons (Louisoix) seemed to choose the others. So I wonder if any of the other Archons are from the 3 city-states. As for Minfilia being an Archon, she's not. Least not yet. She could/may one day take Louisoix's place though...it's funny though cause in 1.0 all of the Archons were intelligent and seemed like they'd have way more knowledge about the world than 2.0 Minfilia, always thought Urianger would be next in charge that or there was more to him than meets the eye after all he was very sneaky and wasn't even present in the "prayer" scenes in the End of an Era cutscene (was always suspicious to me).

It's funny no one in the thread mentioned the new Archon G'raha Tia. I'm really hoping for more back story of him soon.

He was also mentioned in the older thread that was linked. I'm sure that as we progress in the Crystal Tower content, we'll see more of him, since it's his research reports and commentary on the Tower that is being compiled by Rammbroes.

You're probably right about Minfilia. There's just a compulsion to lump her in with the Archons since they're allied with her, but as of yet we have no proof that she is among their number.

You bring up an interesting point regarding Urianger as well. What does that guy really do when he leaves? He is no longer quartered with the rest of the Scions and lately seems to continually bring back bad news...

Except it's explicitly stated that Thancred is taking Louisoix's place. Hence why they mention he needs to "take it easy."

Hrrrm. Regarding Urianger being one of the original Archons, I personally put that to the rumours the Garlean Empire put around Eorzea in the hope of capturing him - that he was one of the Archons responsible for the flood, and the last Umbral Era. I don't actually think Urianger was responsible for it at all, it just being something the Empire used to get the people of Eorzea scared enough to turn him in. (And judging by how you actually meet him, it worked! In the scaring people way, anyway.)

On another note, Thancred also talks at your meeting with Urianger (if you're Ul'dahn) about the Flood, and why it happened.

Also of note; I do think the Sharlayans are something special. There's a multitude of things in 1.0 that show so, and even if they're retconned in 2.0- the fact still stands that none of them have aged a day since the 1.0 echo cutscenes (20 years before 2.0) 1.0 scenario (5 years before 2.0) to now. Other characters like Minfilia, Cid, F'halminn - they have, and the Sharlayans haven't.

I think A_Magical_Unicorn_Rider means that, towards the end of 2.0 and during 2.1's story line, it is said (by fellow Scion members) that Thancred was overworking himself to prove his worthiness: Thancred was trying to make up for the lack of Louisoix, in a sort of attempt to fill their former leader's absence. Makes sense given what we have learned about Thancred in 2.2 - he owes a lot to Louisoix, it seems.

It was this emphasis on being the best and working so hard that lead him to being susceptible to being possessed by Lahabrea.

Right, but I don't think this means he was slated to take Louisoix's place, per se. I think he was just struggling to fill the void (pardon the terrible pun) as was everyone else. He just overworked himself in the process.

I completely agree. :)

Like Ricki said, I don't think than Thancred meant to replace Louisoix, but he does seem somewhat protective toward Minfilia, probably due to the fact they leave the leading role to a girl he took care of for a few days when she was a child (several lines of his shows his "father like" affection for her).
Btw, Echo stories takes place 15 years before 2.0, not 20 and no Thancred is not from Limsa, all he said was that he did spent some time in Limsa when he was young with the weird ninja/pirate/wuhevah brotherhood.

Oh one more thing, none of them have shown any sign of aging besides Minfilia, Cid just grew a beard that make him look older, F'lhaminn's glasses and clothes are what makes her look older, even tho you see her in echo most of the time in 1.0, there are some scenes during the actual present time where she does not look any older, even tho 15 years separate echo and 1.0 (the only way to make the difference is the color of her boots).
It's actually the same for most characters like Momodi or Miounne, I think that people just age differently there than we do in the real world.
I can't remember well but I'm pretty sure in some other thread, someone theorized that lalafell stop physically aging after a certain age (in some cutscene you can see a lalafell as a teen during an echo and later see him as an adult in present but there is no changes besides his clothes)
But now that I start to think of it.. What if this theory is not just for lalafells but for every one in Hydealyn?
That would explain why every one looks the same age, except for Minfilia who obviously became an adult, but since she's the only one we knew as a child, there is absolutely no way for us to know.

Now it might just be me overthinking it but.. It does make sense ^^'''
