It's called MMOJRPG. You don't have to be okay with it. You don't even have to grind it if you choose not to, but this is a typical mechanic in these kinds of games. It was only a matter of time before it popped up.

You can wait until other patches come out and gear becomes obsolete if you like; It's going to be funny when they introduce some kind of XI intense content for hardcore endgamers. Might never hear the end of it afterwards.

what other MMO has people grind level capped content? XI had lots of grind but all the level capped stuff was basically one and done. you can kind of farm level capped BCNMs but that wasn't really a grind, the grind was for Seals to pop the fights.

So we expect developers to deliver new and fresh content every 3 months? Hell of a game that would be. I find it funny though, all games follow the current trends and slowly change. Yet, gamers still moan about everything. I get it, stale is stale, and I do find somethings in FF14 I dislike. But you know what, I just pass that stuff by.

As I said in a previous post, your point is 100% valid (why have level 50s questing for the ultimate weapon fight dodos in an area designed for level 15 players, while further NW in the zone, there is a beast tribe lying in wait that could easily be used for this type of quest).

They missed an opportunity to really capitalize on getting people in the open world. they could have made ALL boss fates in these zones level 50 and what would happen would be A) low level players would have to actually be afraid in the open world, and B) let me play as a level 50 while i quest for a level 100 weapon.

This could have further been better implemented by adding new mobs... the quest itself says "souls of the fallen beasts" or some such... why not pop a "(MOB NAME) Soul NM" after a fate is cleared? low level players need to GTFO, atma grinders stick around for the "real" fate. perhaps both fates have a %chance of dropping an atma, but the "real" fate would have a significantly higher percent chance.

I dunno, I guess it all comes down to this: personally, I am going to do it anyway. Will I be thrilled the entire time? no. could it have been implemented better? absolutely! Do all players have to be onboard or ok with it? no way.

also, the reason I highlighted the seals bit is because essentially you could farm any beast men (fate) at 75 (50) to get a seal (atma). Farming the beast men while not the goal, was the means to the end. same thing going on here.

A sudden realization doesn't mean an epiphany? Please. You can't always just "pass stuff by" if there are ways to make things better why not improve it?

Its funny because he seems to think korea doesnt exist.

to name one example, getting a hot heart of magic in Aion to get the top tier chestpiece had you get 100 items that had about a 10% drop rate, and then you had to craft it into a hot heart of magic, which took a max level craft, which took assloads of grinding or money. Oh and THEN you had to hope your craft crit, with no gear or stats to make that happen more often. People took MONTHS to get this one item.

This is also a game where the bosses only had about at 20% chance to drop loot AT ALL, much less the item you wanted.
