I'd say if they were to create a dungeon based on this, it'd be a boss gauntlet one. As far as the whole dungeon area goes, I think false platforms/floors, invisble enemies ala OoT Shadow Temple would be an interesting idea. But yes, it's pretty obvious Diabolos is a Voidkin, and a very powerful one at that.

I don't know Diablos' form in ffxi, but considering he was a genie in FFVIII, he probably is a genie (voidsent) lording over his own domain, with which he still has connection.

The doors seem to be an attempt by the Amdapori to explore the Void, through which Diablos came, and is connected to Diablos' domain.

Its a bit sideways to the topic but when talking to E-Sumi-Yan today the option "What do the Elementals whisper of?" resulted in a short speech about Ampador and Diabolos though he doesn't add anything about what he may be.

Loving the changes in dialogue depending on what you've recently done - particularly with all the key guild masters and job masters.

I agree! Its great that the guild/job masters no longer have ten second memories. My favorite so far has been Mylla's comments about training new Gladiators, how so few of them realize that they have to gesture (/me) not just shout "Face me" during one of the quests. So many people had trouble figuring out that quest in beta! I was one of them.

Is Diabolos being the one you have to go to in order to get the Dark Knight job. That would be so Jesus.

So not only is he a demon King of the void, but he was also summoned by Nym in an attempt to destory the Amdapori during the War of the Magi. Sounds like they were pretty desperate to release such a monster into the world JUST for the sake of victory.

Whoa whoa whoa. Hold the phone. The Nymians are the Tonberries now. In XI, Diabolos tells you that the Tonberries are the former Kuluu who changed after he freed them from The Emptiness. Dare I say it... We now have something as to what happened to the Nymians. This also begins to link Diabolos to the Primals, ever so loosely. Though he's no where close to them, Diabolos could be the Primal of the Tonberries.

No, primals are comprised of aether. Diabolos is a voidsent. He's just a King which makes him special, but a voidsent nontheless. No different from the other voidsents you've been massacring since day 1 :P

Just a question - we know that Nym and Amdapor were at war, but wasn't the War of the Magi inclusive of black mages, too? Black and white mages battling each other? Were black mages from Nym as well? We do see some black mage tonberry in the scholar quests, so I would assume so.

Do we have an origin for Shatotto?
