I agree 100% with this. Lag and DCing have been a hardware issue since the relaunch and it will continue to be an issue until SE puts more money into new/more servers.

They JUST reworked how the instance system works.
They messed with the very core of the instance system trying to streamline how the entire system works, of course there are going to be kinks in the system for a while after they do something like that.Quote:
This maintenance will introduce a new structure to the instance system that automatically adjusts the number of available instances according to the level of congestion. Until now, depending on the time of day, the number of players would become concentrated in certain content, maxing out the number of available instances, resulting in extended waiting times for players despite having a full party. With the implementation of this new system, more players than ever before will be able to participate simultaneously in the same content.
Because the implementation of this new structure will require a modification to the very core of the instance system, much time will be needed for checks and verifications before going live, which is the reason for the extended length of this maintenance.
It's getting fairly stupid now how every time there is an update to the instance system and a period of working the kinks out people immediately jump on how it's obviously because the game is doing poorly and they're cutting corners by trying to use crap servers they refuse to update.
I decided to do a low level roulette yesterday. I got put into the one Trial I do NOT want: the Navel. (Seriously, I would rather walk barefoot on lava than fight Titan.) While I won't bail on it, I had no choice to do so since the lag was so bad. But at least I kept the tank from raging on the healer. I told him that the instance servers have been laggy since the introduction of the Lost City of Amdapoor dungeons, Brayflox HM and the Leviatan (nooOooooooOooo) trials.
Though it didn't seem like I was lagging, it doesn't mean that I wasn't lagging from the perspective of others. Lag outside of dungeons I can tolerate without complaint. I probably could tolerate a tiny bit of lag in the low level dungeons such as Sastasha, but trials and higher level/ more challenging dungeons? No.
I'm beginning to think that it's not just "some" dungeons that are affected but all of them. So, until then, I think I'm going to have to stay out of dungeons until the lag isn't as bad as it is now.
*Noms lag*
Since the 2.0 relaunch they've added new game servers, added new instance servers at least twice. They're throwing money at the congestion issues. This particular problem must be a routing issue somewhere that wasn't noticed until the DF servers were put back under load. The Aurum Vale thing is different and I'm fairly sure is related to room 1 farming and the stupid stress that puts on the DF server when it has to load and unload the same instance over and over every 5 minutes. 100 instances up at a time is no problem...even 100 AVs...the issue comes when the servers are constantly refreshing 50 of those instances at any given time due to Room 1 spam. The generation happens fast but takes up a HUGE amount of CPU power Im sure. So instead of having 100 instances up and maybe generating 4 or 5 new ones every few minutes it's having to maintain those 100 instances AND be loading more like 30 or 40 new ones every few minutes.
Seems to me they messed up with the game code when they tried to modify how the instance servers works, if that's the case then no matter how much money they throw in better hardware it probably won't fix the issue. Maybe that's why is taking so long to fix...
Nah, it's as people said, not enough server power for the amount of people doing instances. The problem however is that right now there are far more people doing instances than there normally would be at any given time. They're not going to throw down a ton of money for new hardware if it will only get used a small amount of the time.
I wonder if they'll lower the limit of how many people can enter an instance again? I kind of hope they do if it's a quick fix to this. Any maintenance is welcome by me at this point. I posted about it in another thread but it seems to be getting worse? Farming Myth right now is a bit painful due to my heals not working all the time. In a recent run, I literately spammed heals on myself 5 or 6 times and none of them worked. I nearly died. It was the first time I used benediction on myself and thankfully it worked. I had the only res in the party and I didn't want to wipe us. :/
