Dear Bards Who Don't Sing :)

sing more its nice to get a few notes between crushing skulls and entrails slapping to the ground

I once had a pug the consisted of 3 bards and a blm. To make a long story short: the band did not perform in thier concert.

If your healers and party is smart Ballad is rarely needed. For example, on my WHM, I can heal through all the EM/HM primals and turn 1-4 without needing it.

I remember there was this one healer who yelled at our bard for not playing Ballad every boss in CT. The party was not taking excessive amounts of damage, he'd just stand there and spam medica until he ran out of mana.

See I normally don't need ballad at all for anything. However, there are situations where people just WON'T STOP KISSING THE FLOOR especially when it's the other healer and I have to ress + keep everyone's health up.

As a bard, I sing when it's needed. 90% of my singing time is Foe Requiem. The only time I hit ballad is when I see whm/sch mp hit 1600~, when a healer dies, or when a healer has to spam raise. Usually by the time someone asks, I've already put the song up. I wish people would just leave us bards alone! :-P

Yes no reason bards shouldn't be singing even if CT. Foe when having spellcasters makes everything faster and nothing wrong with that. Plus battle voice and foe is really beneficial to most 4 man speed runs on the pile ups.

I only refused to play ballad 2 times. Once in garuda ex where the healer changed to cleric and burned all of their mana spamming stone 2 and both aeros on garuda before reckoning phase. As well as in WP where the whm would holy the bosses, not even the adds on the pudding or the adds on the tonberry king, but would spam holy on just the boss and only cure they would use was benediction. Overall though I can tell when it is or is not needed, but I try to be proactive with any ballads anyway.
