Lack of Big Fishing discussion in today's Live Letter

And don't get me wrong, I'm happy for this. I've been asking if we could sit down while fishing since Yoshi took over (seriously, check the 1.0 archives. They're in there). It's a tiny little thing and I'm probably betraying my "casualcore" nature by admitting that I'm excited for it, but still.

I wish he had something something about big fishing. If they're the new legendaries, whether we'll get actual actions to interact with them, how and where they'll be fished, whether there's a questline involved. Anything at all. The silence is just weird, and makes me think "big fishing" won't actually be anything different from what we're doing now.

There is a quest involving Sisipu and some monstrous something or other at Brewer's Beacon being added. That's all there is related to "big fishing" in the patch notes so far. Most likely what is going to be the case is that this quest will have you fish up some key item type fish that you bring back to Sisipu, and as a reward you get the fishing bench offhand tool. The tool will naturally give a huge boost to the fisher's stats, and that might be all there is to "big fishing" - ie, nothing at all except making it easier to catch the biggest fish by giving fishers a stat boost. Which isn't needed since a fully geared and overmelded fisher can already catch hq versions of the largest fish in the game without fail anyways. I really hope I'm wrong on this, but there's my take on it....

Just seeing this would be a plus for me. Seeing some kind of continuation of the 1.0 storyline involving Sisipu and the Sahagin would be great.

A fun, new fishing system would nice too though.

Looking at the new items added, it looks like we have some new fish. Pretty much no details on what "Big Fishing" actually is though. It's looking more and more like we're just getting some more legendary fish to take up retainer space.

Well that is actually kind of exciting. The new items will increase our gathering, and make it easier to catch the worthless fish!

It's all a bit underwhelming. I'm actually worried about the "changed models for the following: Rod of the luminary" too. I absolutely love the current golden rod model, since I've had it for a good year or more. Got attached to my gilded gilded rosewood rod. If they changed it to the oversized, ugly halcyon rod...

I'm glad there's a new rod if that's the case.
