Status update: Okey... It wasn't my Nvidia which caused crash/BSOD/Freezing. It was my PSU (PowerSupplyUnit) failing and dying. After sometime crashes and random PC turning off came more common. After switching PSU issues disappeared. For some reason using older drivers and making clear installing PC became more stable.
I have had many many many crashes including BSOD's and sadly, it is FFXIV.
I have a Intel 3770k with an ati 7800 HD. There is no hardware issue I have done full testing, burn in, etc, played with settings, and played other games extensivly including running 3d MArk for 12 hours straight....on a friggen hot day no issue what so ever, my CPU temp is within normal range, as is my video card etc. SSD drive is fine, no issues there.
The hanging, and the best part the crashes and BSOD's have only occured since FFXIV and only got worse since 2.2. now here's the thing, Last night, played 5 hours no problems, tonight played for 3 and then 3 crashes in quick succession. The first time it let me in, the second time I had to do a full restart for FFXIV to not give an error about version checking.
im having the same problems. sometimes it would work just fine for hours then suddenly i get bsod. it happened twice while i was doing crystal tower.
I've had this issue for a few weeks now, I tried so many fixes, I did clean install of Windows, FFXIV, old drivers, new drivers, beta drivers, reset my TDR in the registry to 10 seconds. I have a GTX 570, and Nvidia has said they have issues with the 500 series of cards, they told me to underclock it, so I tried that, it has stopped almost all the crashes I have, I run the game on High(Desktop) settings, haven't tried maximum, the only issue I have is if I go into The Mist zone, my character freezes there, I can chat and rotate the camera, but nothing else, can't move, can't log out, can't open the support window, so until Nvidia or SE gets a fix for the drivers to randomly stop responding, or I get a new card, I'll just stay away from housing, and it will be tough since you know, we have so much we can do there.
I learned recently that the BSOD is a result with an error in the memory only! Perhaps one of your sticks of ram is going bad?
I'm having the same exact issue. It has been worse since the patch, particularly the most recent patch. Customer service said its a hardware problem. I had my friend (a technician) verify it is not BEFORE I called customer service. However, the dude in california is apparently much better at diagnosing hardware problems from a distance than the guy who does it for a living actually rebuilding my PC. I can run Farcry 3 on max graphics no problem, skyrim too. Blizard games even work!
