This 100% Horse gear anyone? No? No-one? *crickets*
I have to say the suggestion for a dash action would at least be worth something.

Mounts don't need a Sprint action. They are already in Sprint mode all the time.
I don't mind having purely cosmetic mounts, and strangely enough, I prefer them that way. There's nothing worse then making them all unique, and the elitists saying something like "So and so is faster than the other one, so the other one is trash."
And don't even deny that'll happen, people will complain about the sand at Costa Del Sol if they could >_>
I agree with the mounts being too much. They're just huge, blocking views and NPCs'.... Was it not tested before release...?
I'd like it more if there was appearance customization to chocobos, like different "hairstyles" for them, tails, wings, colors of course, beaks, eye type, eye colors.. etc etc... (yeah, not gonna happen...)
I admit I enjoy some fan service, but all these mounts and minions is just getting kind of silly... lol INB4 SEPHIROTH mount just coz fanservice
I don't think we will be racing mounts. I do think that we will be racing Chocobos!
Of course, that means we will need to raise the Chocobos first. Raising a Chocobo requires that you feed it. Feeding leads to choices of food and different food leads to different raised Chocobos: Red, Black, Blue and Yellow birds!
Assuming the Chocobo raising system is similar to how it was in FFXI, then suggesting some possible abilities:
Red Chocobo = Maybe longer top speed in race?
Black Chocobo = Could run over hills/mountains without loss of speed
Blue Chocobo = Could run over water
Yellow Chocobo = (Default stats and abilities)
Gold Chocobo = Would be better at digging up treasure
There have been all kinds of other ideas discussed about raising Chocobos and the birds developing different skills over here:

you don't want the mount to make coffee too? or gather component?
a mount have for purpose to make you go from A to B faster than without...
