Weird tree in Gridania, anyone know what it is?

That's the one place where I went all OMG it's scenery variation yaaay! ... and then kept running that tunnel with wolves and realized that was actually it.

ya the tree has been there since the beginning of the game. it is cool though. Whenever im up there i like playing with it
