[dev1032] A Better Way to Cancel Spells Please

We need something for this. So far I've been keeping a few healing/support skills on self target macros to fire off instead of using the shift the single keybind bar method. While SE says to just press the button of the spell again to cancel, this doesn't work on macros.

@Wolfie: I also like being able to keep casting as I move.

A new way to cancel spells would be great :D! I've died sooo many times because I accidentally canceled a cure thinking the UI didn't recognize the keystroke but it was actually because of low stamina...

I usually end up /pouting and giving up on ffxiv for a few weeks when that happens. I know it's completely my fault when it does happen, but it's still frustrating to die from those kind of gameplay elements ;_;

It's very unintuitive and confusing, I've basically given up trying to cancel casting spells, and instead just do it very carefully. Which is kind of ridiculous if you ask me.

To cancle a cast currently you simply press the action button you pressed to start casting in the first place. Though i do agree it would be nice to have a Master "Kill Switch" for spells. Though I do disagree with spells canceling when the character moves. being able to move while casting really helps to keep the battle field fluid.

One of the other problems with the current system is that, Well most spells charge so quickly that you have a very very tiny window to cancle.

They said somewhere that they were just going to make spells go off without the option to cancel. I can't remember when though maybe someone can help me by finding it.

And since we are getting 3 action bars at the same time, AoE should be something like shift + spell in action bar.

Please don't try to fix stuff by ruining what works well. The ability to move when casting is valuable, there must be a better way to cancel spells than sacrificing it.

Not sure if casting spells while moving is possible IRL or not. Until we find out can we go with what is less restrictive to gameplay?

I hate escape as an "oh crap" button since that tends to be the the type of situation you'd want to stop casting a spell. It's quite a reach from the WASD keys. Just make it a settable button.

i'd love to see a cancel button put in place. you never feel more helpless than casting buffs on the party using a macro and then someone either pulls a mob or a mob gets too close and aggros. at this point with a macro you just turn and run saying no No NOOOOOOOOO lol.

i don't like the idea of moving to stop the cast as certain mobs like buffalo and hog will charge the party and knock them back during the cast. you need to move to get with your party to heal them. i understand the idea of having to concentrate to cast a spell, but concentrating and walking shouldn't be that difficult.

Well since i use an controller the br button thing was wrong but i just logged in and i can cancel my spells with my emote button I'm gonna try with the Keyboard in a few and see if that works.

Edit: OK i just tested it with a KB for some reason canceling spells with emote button only works with an controller its weird wonder if this is an glitch? Can anyone else try to confirm this?
