When did anyone say anything about it being difficult to code? They've not even said they're planning to allow it.

Simple solution:
barding becomes an achivement gift when reaching level 10.
same as veteran level 4 & 5 pet, it will reflect the currently skilled job.
So we have only one barding, also it is not a requirement to have every skillpoint forced into one job...
It's a simple fix in terms of bardings. If you leveled it to 10 as a tank spec, got the tank barding, then switched to healer, and got the healer barding, you could only equip the healer barding, and before anyone says it, who cares if someone still has the tank barding in their possession? They can't use it unless they switch back.
It isn't hard to implement. It's that it is not the most important feature on the list. Nearly every feature released in the 2.16 patch was more important than a choco reset.
Honestly, the game told you the choice was permanent in the beginning and to make your choices wisely. It's nice that they will eventually add a reset, but for now most of us get to live with the choices we knowingly made.
Untested code can have unintended consequences. Thorough testing requires time (and consequently, money). It may seem like an easy fix/implementation to you, and there are even odds that it is relatively easy to code, but the bulk of the resources would have to be devoted to testing the code in relation to the massive code base that comprises the rest of the game. You wouldn't want that untested piece of code to delete your chocobo do you? Or erase all of its exp to level 1? Or delete your inventory? Nothing is "easy" when it comes to updating an MMO.
So it was better to assume it would be completely free form or that you'd get to fill each ability? I mean honestly it seemed pretty obvious to me after that message that we would have a severely limited amount of points. Given that 1 tree has ten abilities I played the safe bet and assumed that was the cap. No more, no less. I didn't need a whole lot of information to make a smart choice about this. At some point in time people need to take responsibility for their poor choices and wait this out patiently. It's simply not the most important feature on their list, and doesn't deserve a ton of dev time yet. We will get a fix soon enough. We just need patience. Besides, the only thing you really get is some barding, and a high level choco that you can barely use.
Get a chocobo to 10 healing and solo most fates...
well... I admit, I was one of the stupid who tryed to calculate...
First surprise was you will not get +1 +1 +1 each level up, so completly recalculation after level 2, because it increases with each level you had to wait for level 3 to get a good calculation base...
Secund surprise was how to get the branding, because it was confirmed later that you get them when you maxed the chocobo. Well not resulted in a recalculation but still...
Third surprise was the strengh of each skill, some sound good but are completely useless - ended not in a recalculation but most players chosen then to change the job for their chocobos...
Last: To have it 1+2+3+4+...+10 was pure luck, compared to other games. Therefore we could predict the outcome, but we NEVER known!
We havnt even known if level 10 would be max untill one reached that level.
That's a very good idea Yukiko! I'm hoping they do allow us to respec our chocobos, during my early days in the game I wasn't aware that you couldn't respec them yet alone there being a reward for fully maxing a class. So here I am now with a rank 10 chocobo and no barding so please fix this!
