the problem isnt SE or the gear...the problem is: people are stupid. the recommended gear level in most cases is sufficient to beat it, you may struggle a bit, but its possible........people think if they get people with better gear, they will get better players.....so sad how stupid this iLevel system is
id take a person that knows the content and barely passing the ilevel set by SE than an i90 person that cant do shit right and dies continually....yes i seen i88 blms that would loose to brds on dps, brds that dont use ballad, tanks that cant hold enmity and moving mobs stupidly screwing the dps of melee, and drgs that dont keep up heavy thrust and mnks that dont attack from the flank/rear to increase dps, and whms that dont heal............=

I dont mean to sound like a jerk but the iLv. the people set is theirs to choose freely the higher they set it the more room for error they want. When dealing with a competent group of people yes you can can get by with much lower but when I am asking 7 people I have never met or played with to join my group to do something I would rather make sure I give myself room for error and sub par players because lets face it I dont know you and you dont know me both of us could be amazing or bottom of the barrel I would rather not risk wasting 6hrs of my life and 6 others trying to struggle through something with an okayish barely geared for the content player than to use 1hr to find a party of people who will likely survive 2-3 screw ups each run and 45mins to clear the content completely.

Why not make your own party?

so let me get this straight? you are changing out your gear to get into groups you normally wouldnt meet the ilvl req for? whether you can perform or not its still pretty shady. if you dont like the ilvl req's for a group then make your own. you arent a special snowflake, groups dont owe you a spot. if you dont meet the requirements the leader of the group has set and you use loopholes to get around them thats harassment in my mind tho i doubt reporting it would do any good
i'd boot a person like you from my group in a heartbeat

RAGE! Call the cops on that piece of sh*t for harassing you

If you remove the ability to limit gear level through party finder it won't change anything, you'll simply make the people force you to gather together in say mor dhona where they will check your gear themselves.
Fact is party finder is designed so people can make custom party's as specific as they want, if you don't like it then make your own with less restrictions.

Removing the ability to adjust it will just take off all those parties from party finder and those players will just shout again.
I don't really agree with the high ilvl requirements, but I do understand that gear is a buffer in pugs.
You can't really change people's thinking in this, they will try to take a safest route when teaming up with people they don't know.
All it will do is have shouts for the parties that require higher ilvl and the few parties that were reasonable will remain in PF.
Nothing will change. So just make your own group.
EDIT:
Cabalabob beat me to it!
