look, in any other circumstance, I would say the JP dub would be better than what the peeps at the english translation come up with.
But no.

I mean, can you imagine how many times the times "MOON PRISM POWER <3 <3" would show up on a person's chat log if that was made into a thing?

No- Glamour would be better this time around.
Sides- it's already in the game, with the "find the impostor/hidden target" levequests.
The actual magic the monster uses to hide themselves is called "glamour" as well.

"Glamour" is actually already used in-game. Just look at the levequests/sylph dailies where you have to uncover the real identify of some mob/npc.
Dunno if they use "mirage prism" for the JP dialogue at the same points though.

Except the word "glamour" has been used a ton since the game launched to describe illusion magic. It's constantly used when refering to imps taking the form of other creatures, is also mentioned in the PLD quesline when one of the bad guys you fight used it to look like a dragon. The current ingame localization uses the word, so I don't think there' anything wrong with being consistent.

JRPGs are pure fantasy unless specifically designed to be "realistic" and are almost always linked to the traditional fantasy genre, which makes your post kinda ironic in a sense.

Mirage Prism sounds lame so I am glad they changed it.

"Mirage Prism" is a much better name than "Glamour" system.


"Glamour" has too many cheesy 80's photo-shoot style connotations in my mind.
