New Quest to teach Tanks what Marking is for. Mandatory Please.

Must be. I can count on one hand the number of times dps have followed my marks in the last two weeks. Mostly doesn't matter, though.

Just to be Clear I didn't make this thread because I have a problem holding hate. I can hold hate just fine with or without marking. I just prefer to mark Mobs cause I feel like that is my Duty as the Tank and to make the Dungeon run smooth as possible. I must be a rare breed ^^. It was more for low level players. I've also been to runs in level 50 Dungeons where the tank doesn't mark and things go fine but when you get in low level areas and some people don't know what they are doing it should just be common practice to mark mobs.

Everyone knows their is a Tank Shortage just trying to help. One reason why players don't want to play tank is because DPS make it hard for them but if tanks marked it wont be so bad.

See that's the problem with this game everyone did/does fates and didn't learn how to play their classes correctly. As a DPS I don't do that crap cause I play tank. I remember when I was trying to do AK for Hopelite it really sucked as a new tank to keep hate of Relic+1 DPS.

LOL This. If a DPS wants to act like they are hot shit and do their own thing when I have targets marked I'll let them die teach them the hard way. Since picking PLD back up the last few weeks I've had two runs where DPS wanted to not follow marked mobs.

Theres an easier solution then adding a whole new quest.

Double tap T (i think thats the deafult key) and you will target the tanks target.

And what if you don't need to mark targets to hold agro? Tbh a good dps will swap targets when they get close to pulling anyways.

Can we have a quest that teaches archers that jumping and continuously attacking around the tank doesn't actually help them pull hate back?

Yup, as a Sum when I see the main target has approx 25% health I switch targets to keep it smooth with the kills.

Letting people die just slows you down also, its funny, sometimes as Sum you dont want be stood at the back casting, so you go for it now and again, makes it interesting.

Also, when levelling, you DO get into close combat and it keeps the reflexes sharp, but I usually only go for it in a place Ive been a fair few times.

Why don't you mark by yourself? I mean, if you want marked mobs and nobody is doing it, why don't you mark the mobs instead of asking for it? I play BLM mainly and I'm used to mark the mobs when the party starts to get messy.

I'm in the process of levelling a couple of DPS classes. When I'm a WHM, all of my attacks are set to attack target of target so I don't have to switch from the tank. When I DPS I prefer it when marking is done, and we stick to it. If marking isn't done, it's not a huge deal. I just have to target the tank and target what they are targeting. It doesn't feel as efficient, but that doesn't matter that much. Of course, I have had issues where I target what the tanks initially targets, then the tank switches targets. That typically causes problems.

I really think that marking can make things go much more smoothly, especially when playing with people new to a class or dungeon.

(Note that I am pretty much only doing low level dungeons.)

It takes only a second to mark mobs really... I have my Marks thing set on "g", so while running up just click on one of them and click 1,tab 2,tab 3 so on. But do people usually attack the marked targets... no... but as a tank you are tabbing through targets anyway so just check whichever one you are losing threat too.
