Thats not what he's saying. He's saying he wants SE to open up more servers after the ps3 release so that people who want to can start fresh.

Yes, this is exactly what this game needs. Further diversion in the community.
If they aren't going to release on the PS3 I want the dev to stop replying using PS3 as a reason of programming issue, but apparently they are still saying PS3 so no matter what I think SE going to try and release PS3 version.
How many fools you think they can get just slapping on a Final Fantasy label? I for sure was one of them LOL.
I dont think I would want to start over, there is just too much time involved. There really aren't that many ppl playing right now anyway, and even if you did start on a new server there will always be ppl ahead of you. Also our economies will already be worked out and I know I wont have to shell out 20k gil for wing glue.
It would be kinda cool to start another character in a different town to start fresh from the begining, but I don't wanna pay for 2 accounts either.
#1, there will still be beginners who join your server, so you can still show off your leet anvil-banging skills.
#2, Square-Enix inconvenienced hundreds of thousands of us by making a game that requires hard work instead of fun play - essentially tricking us into spending an extra 50-80 dollars more than we would have had we known that FFXIV wasn't going to be anywhere near satisfactory.
Hold on a second, this argument sounds familiar....
Didn't Abyssea create the same stir of conflict? The only discouraging factor that would play into a new players' experience is the catching up process, not how it's done. Those people who purchased the CE and started that 8 days early and played every month and got their rank 50(s), all have the common pedigree of sharing a hardship of gameplay throughout the course of all that. We earned our keep and the OP's idea of separation for new and PS3 players is spitting fire at an open pond, it's pointless.
And trashing character data to forcefully make every player restart from ground up would be trashing the entire project itself. If SE decided to do that, the world would find a YouTube video of Yoshi bringing the entire server house ablaze. It simply won't happen.
So, basically this argument falls into two camps:I like the idea. S-E should make virgin servers at PS3 launch for new characters only. PS3 users can still select the old servers, but it gives people a chance to start over on a world that doesn't have a ton of people who have max gil and a ruined economy.
- Those who support the idea.
- Those who lack reading comprehension and turn everything into a slippery slope.
Nobody ITT is asking for the existing servers to be rebooted, so if you don't like the idea, please ask yourself why you stayed in the game for the last year:I wasted $80 to play this game 6 days early. Once the game is actually good, I'd gladly give up my levels, my gil, and my gear to start over and play from level 1 on a fresh world. Why don't you want me to have that option?
- Do you honestly enjoy the game as it is now?
- Do you have nothing better to do with your time?
- Or did you grind and grind and grind solely so you'd have an advantage over the PS3 launch crowd and now you're upset that people might have the option of playing on a server where you're not king?
Why not just state an "Unofficial New PS3 Players Server"? I mean some of the current servers are empty enough no one would notice, right?
I mean OP's idea isn't awful, unfortunately we have too many servers as it is for far too few people. Adding servers, even one, is something that needs to be taken into careful consideration for a wide variety of reasons.
My question is why do you NEED an entirely new server to do this? If you have friends that are starting at PS3 launch and you want to start over, go ahead. What does it matter if there are a few R50 folks around to help?
