I pictured the Predator's face on a Lalafell body. I'm not sure which is worse.
And these two pretty much answered the question. Lalafell seem to be in about as many food chains as water is.
If FATE descriptions are any indication, Lalafells get eaten a lot o_o It seems like half the FATEs I run into say Lalafells are the victims of whatever monster needs slaying.
Which makes it all the more awesome when Lalafells fight with tenacity.
THE FOOD THAT BITES BACK!
The time for the smallfolk to be nothing but fodder is over. NOW, we EAT everything else >:)
The irony is, there's a few instances of hyur being mentioned as prey for monsters as well (there's a ziz-type mob in Eastern Thanalan that shows up in a levequest called 'hyur-eating pelican', and a FATE in the Central Shroud involves a young hyur woman whose hyur partner was torn to pieces and devoured by raptors - the FATE begins with the poor girl blabbering that the raptors "have just finished devouring her beloved and now they're after her!"). So lalafell can at least take heart in knowing they're not the only race to be treated as food! ;)
The idea of lalafall (or smallfolk) being considered food is also a reflection by the development team of an old joke from FFXI about the lalafells' Vana'dielian cousins, the tarutaru, who were often joked about by players being food for taller races (mithra especially). ;) Ferne likes to put in-jokes from the community in the actual game so this could just be yet another fandom joke made canon.
Well... I did ask about do early Miqo'te hunt and feed on Lalafells.
And if Lalafell think Miqo'te fur = warm and fuzzy.
I can't remember where I read it, but apparently miqo'te actually don't have fur at all - we're basically just hyur with cat ears and a tail. Unlike our Vana'dielian mithra cousins, who actually did have fur. ;)
