MIN and BTN leves got a boost, so those who leveled up in 2.0 will have a different experience. I know there are a lot of people who still don't realize this buff to leve experience rewards.

When I get bored of leves I just mine the highest level item until I get bored of that and go back to leves. Getting the Grand Company thing for more XP helps, too.

Dude try levelling up all crafts and gathering to 50. You ain't seen nothing yet!

level 20, unfortunately, is incredibly quick compared to 45-50 and even 40-45. Leves are fantastic for making it quick however you'll use a lot of them unlike with crafting. I would expect to use about 50-70 leves getting from 20-50, then again that was pre-2.1 so I don't know how much they've changed it.

Most money made by gathering classes come from crafts using the unspoiled node materials to make 1-2 star items, or making items that require a lot of mats or a lot of steps to get the right mats which having a gathering class makes it a lot cheaper. It is literally like owning a business (crafting) and doing all the work yourself, i.e you don't have to pay for workers, meaning more profits! $.$

This, so much. I had a show going on the right half of the screen and FFXIV on the left. I caught up on a lot of shows I wanted to watch because of gathering.

It also helps to not set a definite, numerical goal for your gathering runs. Instead of thinking, "I'll get half a level today", think "I'm going to gather while I watch this show". Then just gather while you watch, and stop gathering when you want to stop watching.
Also, removing the exp bar and floating exp text helps. If you concentrate too much on leveling, the numbers will seem to pass by more slowly.

The above, along with rested exp, GC manuals and food, meant that I was able to lose myself in the experience, and I was leveling unintentionally a lot. I did less than a dozen gathering leves getting all three DOLs to 50.
