While I do agree with learning as the fight goes in during progression but when others have already done the work and progressed through and defeated the encounter and uploaded their kill to a common video site such as youtube, it's great to be able to analyse the video from the PoV of the role you'll be doing so you can cut out a lot of that guess work and be on the ball and take even less time to get that kill as others have before you.

It's not hard to watch a video to get the general gist of the fight, but the bulk of perfecting the encounter is by doing it and messing up extremely badly causing a wipe therefore burning it into your memory of what not to do.

This is interesting, because from what I hear the JP servers are the exact opposite. They expect you to shout/PF for practice and only use DF once you know what you're doing.

I definitely agree. What did the people who beat it first do? They make those youtube video, that's what. Why do we expect people to know the fight beforehand when part of the fun is learning how to beat it? The other day I said something like that and someone said "this is an online game. you shouldn't be wasting other people's time, otherwise play a single player game." Like seriously? I think the best we can do is not to turn into those kinds of people and have fun, if you actually have that happen then ignore it and move along.

And @above I agree, in PF you can set your criterias so people know whether you are practicing, serious group, or farming, etc. Needless to say, wherever I go I teach the newer players and ask to be taught if I am the one that's new. Unless it was specifically asked that you're experienced in PF and find someone new and performing poorly, which pisses me off to no end as well.

I still haven't beaten Titan HArd mode. I even have DL gear equipped.

Is it really my fault if I'm putting out the numbers, don't end up dead and can't even pass the "Titan's Heart" phase?

I shouldn't have to max out my DL set to win this, the fight shouldn't be on my shoulders alone,no?

As i know it- Duty Finder = fail, 98.99% ftl

The way you might see the community is probably how SE wants it to be wether good or bad. As long as the system running the game is working as intended. Square doesn't want us as a community running the show ourselves anymore.

In FFXI we used to make our own parties, farm our own mats, craft when ever& what ever we wanted to(as long as we had the right mats and skill), enter any dungeons anytime, anyplace with anyone. The community was very communicative because everyone knew that if one person messed up, we would all get lost or die. The areas weren't flamboyant like ARR but we enjoyed the moments in PS2 style graphics. Imagine if SE replicated the same experience here in ARR.

I keep finding it funny that people are blaming a whole "community" for one or two bad apples. I've had way, way more positive experiences here than in almost any other game. I think the fact that more people are calling out the guy for saying those things shows that this has a good community.

I'd say a majority of the community are pleasant enough, but there are a lot more than one or two bad apples. Sometimes they are annoying and at other times their tears of rage bring me delight :)

I've used DF to see how the fights are to learn them(I prefer this than watching videos) but I've also beaten garuda andtitan ex on DF like 2-3 times. Don't get me wrong, you'd have to be really lucky to get a good group and I don't think you'll ever be able to farm them with DF lol. I find Ifrit alot easier than Titan ex especially as a dps so I think if you pass titan it won't be long til you beat Ifrit in DF.

Waiting till someone beats it? Happens first day in most cases.

Even if they don't, in those cases videos of attempts are made, and you can learn from watching.

Memorizing isn't needed, it's a whole world of difference between someone going in and being decent-but-not-perfect vs someone going in without a single clue.

And if you're not one of those that goes in without any idea at all, then it's not you who pisses me off.

Makes perfect sense to me. Going into a fight with others and not being a dead weight. I'm pretty sure their df success rate is way higher than ours.
