iLVL for penta melded 2 star accessaries

I've been on the fence with this as well. I have a quad melded vanya robe for my blm with +26 crit in the materia slots. I am currently trying to upgrade to the Crimson Robe from CT. Reason being, it has more crit without melds, +5 int and vitality more, and slightly less accuracy that I can do without.

Now, the issue is the DET loss. I lose I think 15? Maybe 18, can't remember atm. Either way, from what I understand about DET (the theorycrafting) is it takes +7 DET to equal 1 of your class' primary stat which is INT in my case. So really, while my Vanya robe is nice and I have the extra DET there, I believe I benefit more getting the Crimson Robe. More int overall (even without to DET) plus more crit.

Even if I wanted to pentameld it, I don't think it would be worth it. Wasting all that gil on materia for a couple points extra at the cheapest route. Not enough of an upgrade for the time/gil spent. I'd rather just get the Crimson Robe and be done with it. Easier to get to.

Thanks for feed backs all. I will reconsider my choice of gear... I guess can always use those accessories for my monk so they are not a total waste :)

I dont have a parser, but as a bard, i've noticed if i wear my cheap ilvl 90 set (garuda ring, myth neck, allegan wrist), and i swapped out my penta melded ear / neck / ring (8 det, 12 crit, 9 dex), each shot i make deals very similar damage in numbers, and since i have same crit rate, i doubt the chance of critical will differ...

So i guess if you have a penta melded capped 2 star accesories, a lot of cases its just as good as an ilvl 90

So I guess the Penta Melded Vanya Robe I bought for 350k the other day isn't worth it :( It had +16 Acc and +6 Piety for BLM. The good news is I can dye it.

Also, I know it's probably a tough decision for you because of all the money, farming, and rng you had to go through to get that gear. I know I'd have a hard time letting to of it, but I honestly think you are gimping yourself at least with the gloves. The accessories.....eh hard to say, I'd keep those and replace them with myth accessories instead of Darklight.

Have to remember as well, Warrior is a high HP tank. SCH's love healing high HP tanks :D. If a paladin has more HP than you, there is something wrong. Unless they are geared out of course. Even then, I saw an i90 pld was barely under 7K HP with party buff. To a warrior that's very easy to accomplish even with all i70 gear.

If you need the accuracy, then I'd say it's worth it, but if not, I honk it's a waste. Before CT came out it was BiS IMO until you got myth gear or coil gear. With the introduction of CT stuff....the CT gear is typically better for main slots. If you are going to meld anything, do it for a class you don't play often and don't plan to gear out soon, or only meld accessories.

Main slots should mainly be dungeon drops IMO. As the stats are overal better i80 and higher than any crafted + melded gear. Easier to obtain and cheap as hell too (technically free) just have to fight rng for it.

This is all my opinion, I do not number crunch like a theorycrafter, but I do try to count stats and my calculations and decent knowledge of what secondary stats that matter to the jobs I play, I believe the i80+ gear is better in main slot than melded gear regardless of what melds you put into it.

EHP is very important, to a point. But you do reach a point where you don't really *need* more EHP, and dealing more damage is actually worth consideration. At this point, pentamelded gryphonskin is what you want, moreso than allagan/hero's.

Edit: Obviously, I'm talking about accessories, not armor.

My Healers have 3 crafted 2*s; Astral Ring (5 melds), Rose Gold Earrings (5 melds) and Astral Bracelet (4 melds...last VIT3 just doesn't like me). Those are the things I want to replace last because they are better than DL...but if I get the Earrings, Bracelet (Myth are better, though) or Ring out of Coil...I won't hesitate to replace.

Except PLD have a natural 20% DR in Shield Oath...so add ~20% HP to them with it on for comparison.

I've recently ran into this problem. My 5meld accessories actually have more total stats than some of the ilvl90 accessories, sometimes an even higher ratio of useful stats.
