side note: Loved training mobs in FFXI.

I was in a train one time that stretched from outside your house, all the way into your moms bedroom. ;)

Jk, sorry I couldn't help myself but I do think this is a great idea, especially if they do something like a doom train, that would be awesome.

Sure, that's exactly what I said. Actually I liked FFXI where traveling is tougher. I liked the boat rides, with mobs/fishing etc, but an hour long train ride seems like overkill. They would have to completely eliminate chocobos and teleports to even make that feasible. The world here is too small for that. Scenery seems like it would never happen either. They couldn't even let you look out your FC houses window. Sorry for being realistic. I support more modes of transportation but they have to be somewhat necessary.

If trains were gonna be exactly how airships and boats were handled with just cutscenes... then there is no point to adding trains.

I remember both airships and and boats were supposed to have real time travel that you could skip if you wanted to incase your party wanted to.

I see a whole lot of tracks in central Thanlan with no trains....it's a shame that even that is missing some flavour :(

I would actually like a slow transportation option. Like taking a boat from Gridania to Limsa and fishing on the trip over. Would be a nice change of pace. But it should be optional.

That aside, a ghost train dungeon would be sick. A narrow corridor with little maneuverability and lots of mobs jumping out at you. Would love that.

You just brought up the point that this MMO is very lacking in many aspects and should have not been released until next year.

That is the problem with the world. If you can travel that fast on a chocobo, that would tell you this world doesn't have much to offer.

what a fantastic idea, i completly love it, more trains to the people,,, i love trains... just have to add it in:)^^ please bring us trains:)

If they're going to implement this system, they should make a remix of this song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TaTSIDarZA.) It should play whenever we're inside, enjoying the scenery till our next destination (prolly 5-10 mins if you love cutscenes/scenery.) If you dislike this kind of excitement, do not fret! There will be an option for skipping cut-scenes if your virtual life is so complicated. Also, if they want to make this even more exciting, they should add battles/mini-games while being inside the train.

Summary:
-Remix
-Short/long distances (between 5 and 10 mins) and options for avoiding this if you want instant gratification.
-Cutscenes/amazing scenery
-Mini-games/battles
