Why is "Duty Roulette" a solo feature?

Solo player? You would get better responses if you didn't attack everyone trying to explain it to you. I never said I premade, solo or both. You made the assumption.

You do not get damaged. As someone in another thread said, it's an opportunity cost. You lose NOTHING by forming a premade, they took nothing away from you. You just feel that you should get the rewards they are handing out to try and get people to split up as well, which defeats the point of giving those rewards to people who are willing to go in solo.

So, again, you're not being forced to split up, you just think that it's a punishment when it's not, to give out rewards for doing so.

Taekrys, you DO realise you can still join a specific dungeon in a group, don't you? the duty roulette's SOLE PURPOSE was that people get a shorter queue. so OBVIOUSLY 'the solo players' (lol??) are the ones happy to benefit from this. it was .made.for.them.

in fact, you benefit from this when you always queue in a party of 2. in the past you sometimes might be waiting for a pop because the dungeon you needed to do was only your group of 2 queuing and maybe a group of 3. now you will get an insta-pop because there will surely be 2 dps solo queueing in the duty roulette.

and yes, this .has. happened to me when I was on my whm and a friend of mine queuing with me was on a tank. no pop for 20min+ (which is long for tank/healers)

he was the one who needed the run. I eventually dropped. 10 seconds later he had a pop, so his being in a group actually .hindered. his progression.

To be fair, que'ing as a group that knows they can clear content, and is geared for it, would be faster EXP than Douty Roulette (unless you get one of those crazy Ifrit runs that you can clear in <5minutes. I swear I wish I could get -only that- as my roulette at times.)

That may sound not important, but make some people PREFER to queue alone than with a group of friends.

I was asking in my first argument why they did such a thing on the same patch where they added a *FREE COMPANY housing* feature. If they cherish Free Companies, why put at the same time something that promotes solo gaming? You join FC to have friends to easily play with, don't you?

However, if SE told in an official statement that they cherish solo gaming more, I will get along with it. That's what I was asking, other than opinions.

again, you aren't punished, you are awarded if you do it with the roulette. big difference. and we explained to you why a group queuing would defeat the purpose.

at least you're freely admitting that you don't care about anything but gearing/gaining gil faster. it's a start.


ps: if I want to do something with friends or FC mates I do just that. I only use the duty roulette if I really feel like doing it. comparing it's really not that much faster to duty roulette, anyway (people have already done the calculations. just do some digging)

I wonder if we will ever see something on this forum where people .won't. complain that something isn't fast enough (probably done by the same people who complain 'end game' is so boring... *snort*)

Again, it's called opportunity cost, not a loss. It's a choice you have to make. Deal with it, you're the naive one if you think otherwise. If people ALWAYS queue'd in groups, there would be little to no need for Duty Finder in the first place. You lose nothing you had by queueing as a group. Nothing.

And stop asking about SE "cherishing" solo play. Anyone who knows how MMOs work knows they cannot be 100% group based in this day and age. You lose customers that way, even customers who LIKE being in groups. Because what if they have a day off work or school that they normally would not, and want to run something, but all their friends are *gasp* at work or school. They now can't do anything.

You basically saw a reward to people to break out of premade groups and go in solo. Now you want that reward too, but without fulfilling the requirements, you still want to go in as a group. I think the naive one is you.

Again, Taekrys, as others have already pointed out: You are not being punished for grouping. You are getting the same bonuses that you always have. However, an incentive was added for people to solo queue in order to lower queue times and help people progress their story lines. If you want the extra reward, then go participate in the action required to get it. If you want to play with friends, nothing is stopping you. I do it all the time(heck, I group more than I solo-queue).

If they didn't want to promote a certain type of gameplay in order to help people out, they wouldn't have made a new incentive in the first place. Everyone got the exact same bonuses before and the queue times for people needing to get story done were terrible.

last I checked the dungeons weren't solo. (whether or not you talk to people in the dungeons or not is entirely your problem. yes, I've met groups where I tried to chat people up and nobody reacted the entire run, but that was maybe 2 runs out of 50. I'm a chatterbox.)

While some people truly do prefer to play solo whenever possible, some others don't and actually do prefer groups, but at times cannot. DF is meant to be there so they can try and get something done. But the more people use partial or full premades, the more it removes people from the list of potentials to get a run done with. The Roulette is meant to alleviate that somewhat. Many people still just group up instead of use the Roulette, since they know their premade can do things faster.

Actually, that's not what I would have said. Also, you attacked others first to be fair.

You only get myth from the roulette TWICE a day at most. And it's only 10 from the low level and 40 from the high level. You get no extra bonus Myth than that.

The big issue here is that they have given something as an incentive to BREAK up premades from time to time. You want it to apply to groups, and in the future it might. But now, it does not. And you feel it's punishing you. It's not. Period.

edit: huh? that still makes no sense. with 'solo gaming' part I was obviously talking about the percieved 'argument' others are using that this is 'solo gaming'. dungeons are quite obviously NOT solo content.
