I had to do 3 runs to get 1 piece of gear I wanted. in those 3 runs I saw Monk 5x, smnr 2x, healing gear 4x, Bard 1x. I wanted the smnr/ blm gear but the first drop was boots, which I already had.
It happened on the last boss. One of our FC members were forced a BRD hat because everyone in the party left as soon as the last boss was down.
So in CT, there isn't a 300 second timer?
I thought that the system won't default to anything until the timer runs out?
Try queueing with a friend and agree to not leave until both of you have passed. I know it sucks to feel like you have to group up if you prefer solo play, but it's the safest way if you don't think you can pass fast enough in a full pug.

Yeah that sucks man. I had already pre heard about that before the content was released so I made darn sure I was always on the ball with the loot drops...sorry that happened to you.
You know what the loot rules are. Something dropped and you did not want it so at the very least I'll agree that SE should have in place a player NEEDS to have rolled on an item to receive it at all and\or have the loot lock out rule applied. Be sure to post this in suggestions both forum and in game. I'll join my voice to yours. It's a logical solution if they insist on loot lockout systems.
The only thing you can do for now is practice faster loot selctions. It' only a week, and if you ever do decie to play the job for said item, you have that piece of gear.
