Shiva and her beast tribes speculation

In 1.0 one of the Reporters linked the Gigas to Shiva, iirc. I'm sure someone has a screen-cap of it.

And why a band of men, when you could have a realm. We know Shiva is getting a beast tribe, but we don't know if she commands more.The idea of that sounds exciting.

In FFXI, weren't the Gigas from one of the northern continents? It seems like they would be able to thrive in the cold. I would like the irony of them worshiping Shiva. You would have these huge, bulky beastmen bowing down to the most feminine (and probably smallest in size?) of the primals.

I know we have at least another 6 months before we get there, but I am excited for Shiva!! Her artwork looks really great. I'm just afraid of what the eggi will look like. :(

I heard somewhere that the Gigas are likely to be the beast tribe for Shiva.

According to early lore on Shiva from the 1.0 forums, Shiva was supposed to appear in Coearthas along with a tribe of Giant beastmen driven from the mountains on the northern edge of Eorzea (Abalethea's Spine).

These Giant Beastmen are most likely the Gigas who have made their home in Northern Coerthas.
Whereabouts in Coerthas? Well shortly after the calamity a large glacier suddenly appeared in the Northwest part of Central Coerthas, cutting Ishgard off from West Coerthas Highlands. The fact that it appeared so quickly has me wondering if a Primal is involved.

As for the Gigas that reside in Mor Dhona, this tribe worships the Crystal Tower which looms over the crystalline fields, which makes me wonder whether the Gigas of Coerthas and Mor Dhona are seperate tribes or have split into two factions.

So I'm thinking Shiva:[*] Western Coerthas[*]Gigas

All the three giant races are... Well, races, and they had their own social structure too. In particular, both Giants and Hecatoncheires were slaves and Gigas were the ruling class

Devs already said it's not the Gigas but rather a brand new race that will be introduced with Shiva. Alas, wish I had a ref to link or quote <.<
