I thought this thread was going to have something to do with the fact that you have to play a mage (THM for example, like the topic title) in order to get Guildmark traits suitable for a melee class (MRD for example). Thus the reasoning for "but I don't wanna be a THM..."
I always thought it was funny how you had to level a mage class to 36+ to get a trait that converts 10 of a stat you don't even use on a melee, like INT, into a stat you actually want like STR.

I slightly agree with the OP but I see it as a way to experiment with other classes. Maybe there should be "Guild" leves or class leves beside Faction and normal leves that dish out the Guild marks instead?

Those skills are actually for the experimenters, allowing you to play DoM and DoW stuff without being totally gimped. The idea is that you've got points in say, int, that you can use the skills to convert to str while you're playing a DoW without having to constantly reassign.

lol i thought the traits were rather handy for crafters too
