Well First off, they have to hit us...so as long as you stay out of their range, you will be able to cast. (So basically other mages and bards are your issue).
Secondly, we mages have, binding spells/knockback spells/sleep spells and gravity spells that make it easier for us to keep our distance from foes.
We also have Swiftcast/Surecast abilities and instant spells
WHM's have Benediction
SCH's/SMN's have pets that do their own thing and will need to be dealt with by the opposing party
WE have Shield-skills that protect us from damage Manawall/Ward/Stoneskin etc (Not sure If SS will keep our spells from getting interrupted but if it does ;) )
Lastly, this isn't a 1:1 thing. There are 3 other people in your party they need to deal with...and nothing was said about Raise not working in PvP battle.
I see this as a 'bring it on' thing...not a 'oh we're screwed' thing.

Considering this is meant to be team-based, it's likely SE are expecting players who use mage jobs in PvP is to think like a regular PvE party instead of e-peeing themselves as invincible and can fight anything - in other words, have the tank in the party distract the opposing team to allow the mage to cast unhindered. This isn't going to be a 1 on 1 duel when you just trade blows you know. And yes, a little common sense could see without some kind of check how ridiculously overpowered BLM could be in PvP.

Er....not only is there a PVP skill that gives you a guaranteed non-cancellable cast, now you have a use for [Surecast].
Thats two options. If someones attacking you, pop Surecast and cast sleep on them. If they cancel sleep use your other pvp skill and cast sleep on them AGAIN.
once they're down pull back and let the tank steal aggro. -

Watch the chain. Additionally to that, provoke works in pvp as well (at least it did in the beta)
