Rather than starting a new topic, let me hijack this one.
It appears as if Goblins do not follow the same naming conventions as their FFXI counterparts. In that game, "-ix" suffixes named males, and "-ox" suffixes named females. In the journal entry for "The Things We Do for Cheese," it is confirmed that Brayflox is, indeed, a male: "....However, something appears to have befallen Brayflox and his people,..."
*shruggity shrug* I suppose I just find it funny that they borrow so much from FFXI's Goblins, but not that.
