Can Someone Knowledgable or a Dev Please Address This Materia Question/Concern?

I think that would still be along the lines of what the devs said. There are too many stats to display at once, unless it was filtered to only show DoW, DoM, DoH, DoL for that particular piece. Right now, you have a chance to review before any meld takes place so there's no excuse not too. Sure, I've accidentally melded +0 and I've even accidentally melded DPS materia on DoH pants (Doh!), but that was because I wasn't paying attention not anything the system did or didn't display.

Okay, then add a 'Simple' / 'Advanced' tooltip toggle like what many other games do. It would default to 'Simple' and players who want to see the information can just switch the setting to 'Advanced'. Problem solved.

As a suggestion for a solution, I think this might be a nice addition to the great library, perhaps in a section marked specifically for in-game mechanics information. These books could detail the capabilities of each item while still tying into lore, such as cloth materials can withstand more magic-based energies from materia while darksteel can withstand more physical-based energies, with exact numbers in the finer details of the pages.

How about making them public on the Libra Eorzea app instead? A table we can download or browse and look this up ourselves. Doesn't affect the game at all that way.

Or just show what the cap is when you are slotting materia, instead of only showing what you will get.

Currently, When you add materia it looks like this:
"STR +4" <- I can only see that I will get a bonus of +4 STR from the materia I'm attempting to slot.

I think it should look more like this:
"Str: +4/4 Max Cap: 5" <- I can see that this item will accept the +4 STR from the materia and a total of 5 STR.
"Str: +1/4 Max Cap: 5" <- I can see that this item will accept +1 STR from the +4 STR materia and a total of 5 STR.
"Str: +0/4 Max Cap: 5" <- I can see that this item will accept no more STR bonuses.

OR, add in an extra option to the list of actions "View Materia Caps", where it displays "Discard, Equip, Meld, Repair, etc."

I care less about this than the ilvl gear check that affects great melded gear that are below ilvl but treated unfairly because of the ilvl is lower.

Why not only add the extra information when in the melding menu? If you're in there, you are interested in that anyway...

If that's the case, could an ability be developed that displays this information on a separate window when the ability is used on an item, so that those who do want that information can get it? That way the only time the requests would be made for the information would be when people actually want it.

Call it Libra Materia or something...

Please make it an option then. Just because some players don't care about it doesn't make it useless. It is crucial in deciding what materia to buy and in planning our gear.

Please show us how I (with no crafting classes leveled up) would plan how to meld my crafted gear. Without the stat caps it is impossible to plan. It's beyond confusion for us, it is uncertainty.

Please realize this is worse than having extra information.

So please make it an option. Make the information available to us.
