I just started and already have a Reason to just dont help People around healing. That is freak. I cannot believe SE forgot to think about that.
I frequently heal in FATEs. In fact, as DPS i find that if i Cross-Class Cure, i more frequently get gold by tagging a few mobs then healing everyone else.
As Whm, Aero as many things as you can to tag them, then just stand around and heal anyone who has even a sliver of damage on their bar. tossing Regen on everyone i can is a big help as Whm.
I do this in groups and solo.
But it is true, you cant not do any damage at all. even one Aero is enough to start your heals to count toward your FATE contribution. if you cant toss up one instant cast spell before you start, that a silly mistake.
So basically 100% healing is bad... Got it! I did Odin in a full group where I got 10 Gil, 29 seals, and 0 mantles. One of the dips in the party got silver, and he was dead 90% of the fight (couldn't see him so I couldn't raise him), but I got squat. I did behemoth in another full group, and didn't get a single thing... But apparently it's my fault that I was the only has spamming succor because that's the only way to reliably keep my party from dying (which no one did).
Bottom line = don't heal! Good to know SE!
I...always get credit for healing FATEs. Maybe I've never not casted Aero at least once? But I've definitely gotten golds when I spend the entire FATE focused on the tank.
I dislike that Raise doesn't count towards "Contribution". I ran "Go Go Gorgimera" in N. Thanalan last night and spent the first ten minutes doing DD/Dots and healing the Tank that had Aggro, but when he died and it turned into a kiting fest between the other DPSes. Most of the people running it were Level 40-45, so they just got wrecked.
I spent a good portion of time healing and raising people who were dying to his AoE attacks, and in the end I got 3,500 EXP. It was kind of depressing because I worked my little healer butt off making sure everyone stayed up (as did a couple other healers that were running the Fate), otherwise all 30+ players would have wiped on it.
I thought that if you were in a party and using heals you would get the points/credit needed for medals is that not true?
It's kind of shady. Mostly, you'll get credit for the enmity generated. I used to just spam Medica all over the place when FATE-ing my WHM (1st class) and almost always get gold, depending on the number of entries on my enmity list. I forgot whether I casted an Aero or not
But the problem is the fact that you don't get credit for the act of healing itself, you get credit for the enmity generated, so if you heal someone not in the monster's aggro table, tough luck!
I had a few healers in my previous odin group who got gold while raising most of the time. You do get credit for it.
