Is asking a tank to use his enmity+ buff rude?

As a PLD, in relic + 1, average ilvl80 gear, I generally run AK and WP bosses in sword oath. I sometimes switch to Shield Oath if the healer looks extremely under geared as a safety.

I think it's extremely situational, but I wouldn't assume because a PLD isn't running Shield Oath, that means he isn't doing it right. It's a tradeoff between dealing extra damage or taking it. You have a lot of liberty with that in AK and WP.

If the tank is losing aggro, or taking too much dmg, I think at that point it's perfectly fine to ask him to throw his defense/health buff up, but if you're comfortable healing, then it's an overall benefit to your party to have your tank dealing a significant more amount of damage than he would otherwise.

I don't think its rude to tell what goes wrong if its really wrong but do not try to be commander or teacher, that obviously rude lol

I think just the fact you are asking if you're rude means you are probably not. You just don't sound like the type to say, "Keep agro n00b tank!".

As a Warrior, without Defiance, Since I significantly out gear AK and WP, I never use Defiance anymore.
Why? Simply because I significantly out damage any DD Class in Full Darklite/Relic. (+1 Relic DPS will beat me with Full Darklite, that's the Cutoff)
Only class that can give me a run with lesser gear than what I'm stating is Black Mage.

How much do I out DPS? Parsing consistently, I deal greater than 30,000 Damage through the entire run than the top DDer typically.

This is semi-cheating, due to the fact that I am always attacking from the start to the end, but honestly, my runs go fast.

If I decide to take a new 50 with me, (AF gear) I often triple their total damage while tanking.

And BTW, Enmity is never a problem for a tank who knows what their priorities are. Tank Stance or Not.

How much does Sword Oath actually add for total Dmg?

I've had the occasional PLD want to "make the run faster" but given how much extra time I have to spend out of cleric stance healing them I question whether the net increase is actually positive.

50 Damage per auto attack, and it strips them of the -20% damage penalty of Shield oath, so thats quite a lot of damage actually. (Not nearly as much as a White Mage who is freely able to cast Holy, or Stone 2 though)

If PLD with no Oath up at all, you can be sure they forgot. By phrasing it as a question you give them a face-saving out: talking about why they chose to not use it. Saying 'please use your threat skill' is pretty vague: which threat skill, there are a lot of those, so potential misunderstanding. It could also imply that 1) you don't know the name of the skill, and 2) that they aren't doing much to keep threat so far.

Some folks will appreciate your reminding when they've forgotten something. It could make a big difference in group success.

Its possible I'm wrong here but I was under the impression that the + Enmity from Shield Oath doesn't actually GAIN us any enmity, it simply makes up for the damage reduction element on Shield Oath.

I still have trouble with aggro once in a while in AK/WP in DF. Im a PLD+1 with mostly i90/70 mixed gear. Sometimes I get party members who complain that i'm not holding aggro when I pull big. Well Flash can only do so much and I can only do combos to a single target every 7-9 seconds or so. making a pull of 7-10 mobs difficult to hold against a Big AOE attacks. Sometimes i get a healer who cant keep me alive enough for even medium pulls, so i switch to Shield Oath and blow CDs, which lowers my enmity/ps and i still get cursed at because 1 mob starts targeting a dps or healer. Normally I'm in sword oath to make the most out of my job except in coil or titan.

I still struggle with hate in these scenarios which lately is happening a lot particularly with very impatient people wanting the quickest possible speedrun.
