They could make just these items upgreadable, just like in ff 13. For post 50 ilvl make mats drop from instances.
Gear should only scale down, not up.
Or you would see people in swimsuits doing coil. Why get ilevel 90 gear if a ilevel 1 gear scaled up do the same job?
That single change would really harm Crafting more than it already does.
I mean, why bother craft when you shove event gear from 1-50 and completely negate the need of gear that an Armorer or Weaponsmith does?
Especially with how easy it is to get said even items?

Heirloom gear did exactly this in World of Warcraft. http://www.wowwiki.com/Heirloom <--- Go here, read, and scroll down to see the way that gear worked. This is a good idea. But I think it's far too early to add shit like that to the game yet.
Usually how it works with this type of gear is this way.... After the level cap is taken off once... or i'd say even a second time.. then that gear is released. But only for it to go from level 1 ~ 50 (aka the initial level cap). After it hits that level it stops, and you have to level the rest of the way without it.
