For scholars, always get Omnilex +1 first. The weapon damage will give you the largest healing increase possible. After that, get Argute Pants.
From there, you have a decision to make based on this spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...=sharing#gid=0
I personally advise people to go with Det+Allagan. You'll get good crit, capped Det, and you'll only lose about 3% crit. I personally believe the race to crit is an attempt to maximize Adlo, but it seeks to really circumvent Scholar as a sustained class to make us a burst class.
The only place where Crit-heavy shines in a statistically significant way is spamming Adlo. You should never spam Adlo. You'll get roughly 15-20 casts before you're OOM. 4:1 Physick:Adlo will keep you casting about 10+ minutes.
Spamming Physick only, the stats are roughly the same. Weaving in 4 Physick, 1 Adlo, a more realistic healing rotation, the scholar will do about the same with Crit and Det (crit provides a larger return, but it's only a couple thousand healed/shielded). A scholar with Det weighting will heal less on the crit, but they'll heal more on sustained. I prefer sustained, others prefer crit for the big Adlo number.
With that said, after you get Omnilex and pants (both can be used in either set), you can fork the decision tree here, in order:
Crit - Argute Gown
Crit - Hero's Belt
Crit - Hero's Neck
Crit - Hero's Earring
Crit - Hero's Bracers
Crit - Hero's Ring
Done with Myth.
Det - Hero's Belt
Det - Hero's Bracers
Det - Hero's Ring
Done with Myth.
Det will require more Allagan. Crit will require more Myth.
I would not advise anyone stack speed as it does lower output in every single way due to the low values of speed right now. When speed is more prevalent, it could overcome Crit and Det.
Thanks for the advice folks.
I only went with the gown first as really I could not continue to run coil with strategos chest...
I have my +1 book now and will be saving for my pants next.
