Tell me where BLM outdamages summoner ? Turn 1 ? no way. Turn 2 ? No way. Turn 3 ? Maybe if you do the trash.... Turn 4 ? I don't think blm outdamages SMN but I also not 100% sure.

I've almost never been outparsed by a BLM in a single target fight on my DRG.

It's usually pretty close.

Turn 4 can go either way depending on how the fight is executed. The more the BLM is contributing to phase 1 and 4, the more the BLM can win the parse. The more the SMN is contributing to phase 2, 3, 5, and 6, the more they can win the parse. Overall, the higher the group's DPS and the more assistance the mages get from physical on their targets, the more the BLM will win over the SMN (because the targets will get bursted down faster). BLMs also inherently have a good bit of RNG with Firestarter.

There are several other minor factors.

For example, if a SMN gets their bane on spinner rooks (which tend to die pretty fast, before spiders), they're going to lose meaningful chunks of DPS. If the BLM and/or SMN are kiting soldiers, they will reduce DPS. If the tanks get clockworks in range for Bane (I'm not sure on the radius of Bane, actually), then that can be an advantage for the SMN. Etc etc.

If you do the double dreadnought approach, the SMN can gain an advantage from dual DOT targets. If you do single dreadnoughts, that advantage is lost.

Obviously I'm bad and our BLM is worse. Luckily our Summoner can single-handedly carry our raid's DPS, since our Bard is even worse than our scrubby selves.

When you say you outdps the others, are you the one using the limit break? I'm not trying to say you are wrong, just saying that using the limit break gives a pretty big bump to your dps.

My thought exactly. This is why I deleted my previous post, what is the point? We are not even on the same server to show him what can a BLM do.

EasymodeX, one last note, I seriously don't want to offend you but when you said "No one gives a shit about a BLM's average damage per hit" that gave me a very good reason to stop the conversation with ya because this is one of the dumpest statements I have ever read in FFXIV forums.

I don't really know what a BLM can do, but ours tops charts on every fight and our dps comp is solid so it's not really anything but the class. Not really blowing anyone out of the water, but has a noticeable step up on the rest of the group. That's why I tell him no more Foe Requiem ever again.
