<Odin Rant> Ridiculous....

The first time I faced Odin I hadn't "optimized" my display, so I couldn't see him. He kept popping in and out so by the end I got bronze.
The second and third time I faced him none of my attacks registered. I was hitting him from the start to the end of the battle, not one DoT landed, not one skill that gives me a buff actually triggered. I watched my skills report damage but none of them appeared to affect his HP and by the end I scored Bronze again. It's hard enough to find a target you can hit without it vanishing even with all effects turned off, but couple that with the fact when you CAN see the target none of your attacks count and the whole event becomes pointless unless he spawns on top of you and you're first to hit him.

Your party factors would have changed, remember that your Bronze/Silver/Gold is based on your entire party not just you.
I've been the only healer in a full DPS party but we still got bronze, because if half of your party can't even see the boss then they're not really doing anything at all.
DOT's are best anyway since the average consensus is that you only see the World Bosses for about 5 seconds before they disappear for up to 30 seconds.

As for Behemoth, unless you're a Tank honestly I don't recommend going close. Due to the way the game works is you can only hit enemies if you can see them (Meaning AoE spam won't hit them unless you see them), but they can hit you (because they can always see you)
DOT's will remain if you can't see the boss because they're then registered on the enemy itself (server side), so you just need to throw the initial dot on them then if they vanish you're still ticking points.

Sadly the best thing I can say for Behemoth is to keep your distance and use any ranged attacks whenever it appears, which is hard since you need to be close... close enough to be cleaved ><

The issue with relying on DoTs is that all mobs can only have 2 bars of debuffs and DoTs are considered a debuff. With my experience as a SMN, I am finding it hard to even maintain one DoT on Odin due to everyone spamming theirs on it along with other debuffs. He can appear for me the entire duration of the fate and I can never apply my DoTs, honestly I think this needs to change for classes that rely on DoTs for damage. A mob has 2 full bars of debuffs so I can't attack him? I get why they put it at 2 bars, I do but it is just frustrating trying to do Behemoth and Odin for SMN (And maybe bards due their Bloodletter reset) because DoTs will virtually never be on there. 2 SMN DoTs require a cast, the other is instant but has a huge delay effect due to animation and we are competing with classes that each have 2 DoTs and are instant. (Disregarding cnj and thm without thundercloud) Spamming Ruin + Garuda doesn't even give remotely enough contribution to even hit bronze.

1 member from a 8 party set up has to pull off a Limit Break to ensure a silver rank.

To get gold you just need to be BAD ASS. <-- Status that eludes me since im on PS3 and these FATES don't load correctly on PS3.

There's also an issue where there are so many people actually hitting it that your attacks don't register. As a BLM, I could be nailing him with Fire III, but I will never receive an Astral Fire, even though my attacks are hitting. It's pretty frustrating.

This is just server lag as a whole. As a WHM, when I try to cast Regen on myself or any other buff, it may not register sometimes.

I had the same issue. I tried to switch to my 50 bard to do Odin and Straight Shot crit buff would never proc on me. I didn't even make bronze yet a friend of mine who d/c during Odin then came back and just used hit Odin a few times got Bronze.

I honestly am beginning to wonder how fate participation is even calculated.

Odin is a FATE... FATE's are broken. nuff said.

i tend to spend my time rezing all the dead. i may be underleveled for the FATE, but those who get rezzed are greatful since i do count toward a min bronze for the party for the 20+ rezzes i do with Odin and Behe, not to mention the AOE heals and shields and the like.
