Ranger from a SE MMO uses a bow primarily. (can use gun)

We mention long guns, such as rifles. That would not fit with corsair.

Most of the others could work tho.

Gunblades for a tank class. I'd support it. Ranged stance for kiting, melee for spank and tank, damage mitigate and bonuses to parry.

Still dying for this class. It's been three bloody years SE. Give me my gun back.

Ftfy. Makes more sense to focus on limited animation differences with two jobs and the same weapons than to create two entire skillsets with similar roles.

That, on the other hand, would probably need to be a different class -- melee attacks would require an entirely different ability and animation set. I mean, you could have people just use it as a gun, but how unsatisfying would that be?

Worth noting that almost all of these are one-offs or are classes not defined by guns. Among them, "Gunner" could encompass Gunner, Corsair, and Fusilier at the very least, since they're all the basic gun-user classes for their respective games. Engineer/Machinist only uses guns in the Ivalice setting. Gun Mage is a one-off Blue Mage, where Blue Mages always use random weapons (like cutlery). Ranger, of which Hunter and Sniper are game-specific variants, is defined by bows rather than guns.

It will be one or the other, one is a two handed weapon, one is a one handed weapon. I doubt they will go the GLD/CNJ route with it and allow off hand/single or two hand. If anything the Rifle would be the job branching from the class...imo

I think a pistol could end up with higher attack rate, lower damage, lower range, and the rifle could end up with lower attack rate, higher damage, higher range. Might make for different strategies on different bosses. On Titan, for example, you wouldn't want to be on the edge shooting with a rifle, but you could be mid-range shooting with either rifle or pistol.

Actually, rangers have two primary skills in FFXI which are Archery and Marksmanship. Their ultimate weapons consisted of bows, guns and a crossbow.

I wish it was available in alpha. I meant that for people who started in Limsa, one of the story cutscenes involves giving you a gun. You aim it, then have it taken away 5 seconds later.

I've stopped leveling classes until this one comes out. I can just imagine all the fates now looking like a firing squad though.
