Hero's gear (the stuff you purchase with Myth) is green, despite being iLv90. Relics are Purple, but Relic gear (what you purchase with Myth) is blue.
It doesn't seem consistent from a player perspective.

They already can. I just said that. There is no purple gear in the game (just relic weapons). Since no Blue gear is craftable, then using HQ green gear (to be of the same tier as blue gear) with the addition of materia makes it BiS. There are no craftables for lvl 90 gear because there are no drops from lvl 90 dungeons. It would be silly to make gear using items that are a lower level than the gear.
It's very consistent if you use common sense and look at the item level. The color scheme ranks items within the level to each other. What does Ifrit weapon's being blue have anything to do with the crafted lvl 70 weapons being green? What does a green lvl 15 item have anything to due with a white lvl 50 item? You're showing your stupidity right now.
The only end game content at the moment where I feel Darklight is not good enough would be Binding Coil of Bahamut. Even then, probably Turn 4 and beyond. This also happens to be an iLevel 90 dungeon, compared to Titan HM, which is supposed to be iLevel70 - coincidentally, Darklight gear is iLevel 70.
Definitely not entry-mid level, when a good amount of content in the game is perfectly handled with Darklight.
How it should be? Says who?
How exactly are you expecting new and innovative ideas if we always stick to "how it should be"? Maybe we've been doing it wrong all this time.
Just like people have been buying Titan runs to get their Relic weapons. Why aren't you complaining about those, too?
You're attacking the symptom instead of the cause; people "buy their way to high item levels" because they are not willing to spend that much time grinding.
So what happens if you put that person who repeated the same dungeon 100 times in their first Coil run? Are they going to magically know every nooks and crannies of the mechanics? Don't make me laugh. It doesn't take skill or be remotely good at the game to obtain item level 90 equipment, just mindless repetition. Do you honestly think every player that has full mythic gear is skillful? What if they "bought their way to high item levels" by being carried by someone else? Or just repeated WP several times to complete their set, yet are completely inept when running new challenges?
Except that it isn't. Have you seen some of the two-stars material requirements? The Vanya pants cost around 3k Tomes of Philosophy. In what reality does that makes sense? You can buy the Darklight equivalent for much cheaper, or simply skip to the Mythology ones by repeating the same dungeons over and over again.
Please lend me your crystal ball.
