Your point makes no sense, as FFXI also has an extensive macro system, which I extended further with windower macros (and don't bring your windower rubbish in here, it is a vital flaw in a games design when it cannot run in full screen mode without crashing on alt tab).
Each of my macros were around 25 lines long, and had every slot gear changes, and were all instantly at my fingertips. Neither menu based UI's offer the same functionality, so why clutter it up further? Don't pick out tiny parts of peoples posts and make that your focus, keep things in context please.
I played FFXI and Menu systems can work for long battles that don't require much input. There just so happened to be a lot of these kinds of encounters in FF11.... FFXIV, outside of NMs I suppose there aren't any really long battles.
Not saying that it couldn't work or that it can't be good, but I don't think it will be implemented.
