Q2: I often see players on the same class as myself use skills from other classes, how are they able to do this?


A: Certain skills are listed as cross-class, check skill description which ones. These skills are equip-able on all base classes. You get 1 equip slot for every 5 levels. For Jobs, they are restricted to 2 class only plus your 1st 5 skill slots are taken up with your Job skills, that are learned as you do your job quests.


Job List:
Warrior: lvl 30 Marauder, lvl 15 Gladiator. Can use cross-class from sub and Pugilist

Paladin: lvl 30 Gladiator, lvl 15 Conjurer. Can use cross-class from sub and Marauder

Monk: lvl 30 Pugilist, lvl 15 Lancer. Can use cross-class from sub and Marauder

Dragoon: lvl 30 Lancer, lvl 15 Marauder. Can use cross-class from sub and Pugilist

Bard: lvl 30 Archer, lvl 15 Pugilist. Can use cross-class from sub and Lancer

White mage: lvl 30 Conjurer, lvl 15 Arcanist. Can use cross-class from sub and Thaumaturge

Black mage: lvl 30 Thaumaturge, lvl 15 Archer. Can use cross-class from sub and Arcanist

Summoner: lvl 30 Arcanist, lvl 15 Thaumaturge. Can use cross-class from sub and Archer

Scholar: lvl 30 Arcanist, lvl 15 Conjurer. Can use cross-class from sub and Thaumaturge

Points for putting some in Str.
1. STR effects your damage reduction from parry/block in addition to higher attack damage
2. The extra damage will help you tank better during early levels by helping hold the Hate with your higher damage output.
3. The current threshold for maxing you damage reduction with coil/myth gear is 9 bonus points in STR.
4. These points can be respec-ed easily with an item that cost 10,000 seals at your GC. There not much to spend your seals on unless your doing crafting, but even then as long as you do the daily GC supply/provision for all the gathering/crafting class you will get enough seal to cover your xp manual costs.

Thanks for changing it. I read the tanking forums and some players made the mistake of going full strength or even half strength and chose to respec with 10,000 seals later to maximize their stats for Titan Hard Mode which is where I'm currently at. I basically only know about tanks but it's generally best to invest in vitality as a tank because every point of vitality will always give slight improvement. As highlander suggested, there are exceptions though where investing in strength will get you past the current threshold which will give you slightly better block/parry and higher attack damage.

Yeah, thanks. >.< someone already corrected that by the time I saw this post, lol.

I always get confused with BLM sub because well >.> Archer and Arcanist can both be pulled from and its just attack of the A named classes from there. xD

Btw really good post just may have a few things to add if you would like.

As it is not apparent and coming from other games may be worth mentioning that there is no racial bonuses in this game so picking race will not effect class choice and that there is only a small % even at level 50 less than 1% I think was quoted in stats.

Also as this one threw me when I was new to the game been playing about 2 days when I noticed lol there are no factions as such in this game don't know if that counts as a f a q but thought worth mentioning :).

The way this is worded could lead to some incorrect impressions.

A level 30 CNJ has 6 slots for cross-class abilities. A level 35 CNJ has 7. If the first five slots are taken up by job skills, a 30 WHM would have 1 slot and a 35 WHM would have 2 slots. Or, if only the first slots are taken up with the skills you actually have, both a 30 WHM and a 35 WHM would have 5 slots (6-1 and 7-2 respectively).

Neither of those is the case. Both a 30 WHM and a 35 WHM have 3 slots, because Jobs simply get 1 slot per 10 levels (instead of per 5 levels).

if i chose GLAD at character creation,what would be the secondary class i take to lvl 15? and what would my final class ultimately be?

You could take Gladiator to 30 and Conjurer to 15 to become a Paladin, or take Gladiator to 15 and Marauder to 30 to become a Warrior. Which is done at character creation and which is done later is irrelevant so long as you meet the level requirements of each.

Basically what Niwashi said! You'd end up leveling cnj to 15 and getting paladin as your change for glad. :)

But if you ever want to change classes, you can once you finish your level 10 class quest for glad so don't worry about any restrictions during creation and go with what you think you'll like the best! :)

Update: I changed it and put it into my own words! I don't know if its less confusing but I tried to explain it the best I could so... I hope its acceptable enough.
