It was a baby egg so it had innocence and bonds with the drg. I will play drg when they get their pet
Actually DRGs in FFXI were dragon slayers by lore as well but they trained wyverns to aid them. You could work it into FFXIV lore fairly easily but the problem would be balance. The biggest issue in FFXI with DRG was the wyvern and the fact they could never balance it right because they never intended DRG to be a full blown pet job. This forever left the wyvern weak in most end game situations and the DRG as well as a result since if they balanced DRG to match the rest of the DD classes on its own they'd have been OP with wyvern out. I don't want to see this in XIV unless they can find some way to improve DRG-wyvern synergy so that DRGs can stand on their own without the wyvern present.
If only they could work in some way of them using a dragons power...
Legend of Dragoon anyone?

Would have to give DRG a shot if they did something like this :)
A lv.50 Paladin who wants to have a pet for Drg...
Dragoons need to Power-morph into Spirit Dragon to make up for DDing(dps). XD
I do miss Wyverns as pet :0.
Dragoon's had a Wyvern in 1 game. Is that what you call traditional? But more important than that, if Dragoon's have a damage problem that can be fixed much more easily by adjusting their skills than by adding a pet.
Regardless, Dragoon's had a very big problem for years in FFXI because SE insisted that the Dragoon's damage be balanced to take into account the wyvern. We really don't need that kind of trouble here.
