The cost of 9 philo items for a big piece of gear seems fine, but the fact that some cost 18+ even for a ring, is just nonsense.
I hope the cost changes in the future as these pieces become less desirable ♥

Well, no offense to anyone who seems to think leveling a craft is an achievement, but it literally takes ~2 days to level a craft to 50. If it's taking you longer, you're not doing the right levequests. I wouldn't use the "work" put into leveling a craft as support for your argument.
honestly, i don't mind it taking longer to get the mats for the crafted gear, but i do mind how much longer it takes.
just think about making a complete set of vanya gear and how many runs it takes to get that many potash/animal fat and how many runs it takes to get darklight. it will take 180 runs to get enough tomes to even attempt to make the vanya set and i believe it's close to 75 for the full darklight set. i can understand the crafted gear taking a little longer to get the materials over darklight due to the potential high end for crafted is higher, but the difference is pretty large. when you think about it takes 23 runs(18 tome items) to just make one single accessory after getting all the other items compared to 4 runs(395 tomes) to get the darklight accessories that's a pretty huge difference.
Darklight is 51, +9 for relic.Quote:

375 actually, but the downside is the rings are unique, and you want 2.Quote:

you're probably correct on both sets of numbers, but the point stands. 180 >>>> 51 or 75 is a huge difference and 23>>>> 4 is a huge difference as well.
i just feel whether it's darklight taking longer or the crafted gear taking less time it should be closer to comparable. in other words if it takes 51 for darklight why shouldn't it take around 75 for the crafted? the better gear still costs more, but it's not 353% more.
It also takes a lot of money, time and/or skill to make/buy your crafter AF, then meld and forbidden meld it, get the food and eventually make that 2-star gear. It's not like a fresh-50 CRP in quest gear can make that 2-star, or that everyone is made of millions of gil and makes the spending trivial.
What I find funny is that materia prices seem more or less constant, while tome mats are going down in value steadily.
I completely agree, and they could solve this by removing the items that need 18 or 27 tome items, and making it 6 items per for all. 6x125 = 750 tomes, plus the expertise, other mats and labor cost it more than equals the high-cost 875 pieces (like DL body and pants). While its 2x higher for rings (750 vs 375), but this can be justified since the rings are more versatile (Astral Ring does ALL mages, not just casting or healing).Quote:

Right now a full set of Vanya+ Astral for either healer or caster is 3.6 million (144 tome mats). Plus 5 to 15 million in materia melds and forbidden melds to get max possible stats.
While 51 runs (full DL) are currently worth about 1 million if they had sold the mats for 25k each (current worth on my server). Myth are not money-able, but I bet they would also cost less than a full-melded Vanya+Astral set, while arguably being better because main stat weights way too much.
