You know what is just as bad or worse than people whining? Is other people making general conclusions about the entire community.

You just have to do your best to ignore it. EVERY game with PvP is going to have people crying over balance issues. I've been playing MMOs since '99, and I've yet to see one where this isn't the case.
A game could theoretically be perfectly balanced and someone would still complain. For most people, if they lose in a fight they will be more inclined to blame balance rather than their own skill gap with their opponent. Too many MMO players get god complexes in PvP and can't accept that there are others that are simply better than them. Hence, cries for balance changes (sometimes merited, sometimes not).
Just play what you like, enjoy it for what it is, and ignore the complaining.
Actually for PVP I think the REAL crying is going to be happening over the Desync issues and less about the class balance. And in the case of the desync it will be rightfully so, no excuse for this games netcode to be as bad as it is.
Yeah, I can't understand why people complain if a class is supposedly op or "too easy" to play for pve. If you like it easy, play the easy class and done.
It has been known for a long time that pvp and pve will be balanced differently. So to those that were qqing bards were op, I can't think nothing else but that they were jealous.
PvP is gonna have PvP abilities separate from PvE... its hard to think they would nerf PVE for PVP
You know what I dislike about PvP? People who overuse "QQ". Instead of demonstrating some faculty of debate, the ability to produce a coherent argument, the use of denigration and demonization is brought to the fore, and never abandoned. It's not necessary: You can just claim the other is "QQ"ing and suddenly your argument is "sound." But the point here is that demonizing your opponent in a debate demonstrates lack of substance to an argument. You're trying to go for style point, audience vote, not soundness, not rightness.
This is what is wrong with ffxi. When some classes are better in every way to another, the other classes become worthless. This was shown in 1.0 where paladins would never get into a party instead warrior got the spot. It's happening in this as well. Class balance is needed so players can choose whatever class they want and not be rejected simply because they're not a bard.
I expect a lot of tears when it first releases, mainly because it will be new. Especially in a FF title. Even if we have a separate skill set for pvp that will be balanced completely separate from PvE, there will be balance issues. So until it gets ironed out (which could take many patches) there will be lots of it.
So I'm already getting my tough skin built up. I don't like pvp at all, but since it's supposedly going to be a separate entity from PvE altogether, I will probably give it a try.
Big fan of PvP here - in fact the main reason I got this game was because a friend told me SE were planning on releasing PvP. I guess it's the miscellaneous and always changing environment that PvP has to offer, combined with it's competitive nature and unpredictableness. In the other MMOs I've played, PvP forums were always hubs for poor feedback. Large quantities of threads that could be translated into "nerf<not my class> and buff <my class>" and "I got outplayed so nerf everything!!!" essentially wanting developers to patch learn to play issues by altering game balance, which never works since in PvP better players will always be better and the person moaning will just get outplayed by the next class even if it happens to be their own.
That being said, I doubt there will be any considerable balance issues, especially since anyone is more or less free to pick whichever class they want and since classes are somewhat similiar.
