PS3 launch is gonna be a hard sell. Since the games initial launch reputation is gonna be there when they hear XIV, Stigma!
I think by regroup & relaunch he means Shut down, Rename and Re-launch. So the game has a clean slate.
In the west maybe. There was a decent surge of JP consumers buying the PC version of XIV the past few months, not anything to write home about, but it was enough to show there is still interest there and it's also a console nation.
100x more wiser to just rebuild the current game like they're doing. It'll cost a lot more money to redesign the game from the ground up as something new than it does to redesign flawed aspects.Quote:

There wasn't a ton of fanfare at the original launch. Through enough advertisement along with it launching on a console instead of the PC, I'm sure they can mostly overcome any stigma that was built up. Perhaps they could go so far as to add on a subtitle or whatever to emphasis that it isn't the game it once was.
Really the main thing I'd worry about is how they're going to convince the current XIV community to move to a p2p plan. I'm sure several will have a bit of a hissy about that regardless of how the game changes.
Wow. Why complain. just get out already. we dont need your QQin. wait. did I just get troll'd? ; ;
This thread brings out the immaturity of so many. But I disagree with OP. And I also don't think PS3 is going to be its life saver.
I don't get the question....
They're banking on us hoping to bring people back and will no doubt use expansion packs to market the game more. Now PS3 might get released same time as expansion, that doesnt mean the PS3 release will make it better, it will be the past 8 months + w/e months ahead + all the new content that will make it better and hopefully bring more. Sadly though with other games it's going to be very tough. Even if every person was paying now it would be losing a lot of money and never break even. The game will be how it is now for a while and probably go to about the subscribe base of XI for a few years and maybe in the future we'll see, but competition is fierce and high now unlike back in XI's days and even then it took them couple years to break even with a payment plan from the start.
But in the end the game will most likely survive, the "image" of a FF game is all SE have and they passionately want to keep the franchise "successful".
